old faithfull - just cos we have all heard of tony martin does not make him a decent player. watched him at london twice, new zealand warriors and wakefiled and when we talk about trying to get the journeymen aus players out to improve the standard this guy is a fine example, not done much steady an earnest but nothing worth blocking youngsters with.

As long as the club do not confirm the re-appointments of the assistant coaches then Morrison may be potentially re-signed as player/assistant coach.
Its not usually an arrangement I favour for a SL club. I prefer specific roles and lines of responsibility.
BUT....if he is free of quota as a player and able to play some matches then the only question is "how good a coach could he be and what can he give to the team"
Do'nt know about his technical abilities but I think he'd beat the living sh*t out of any player who was not pulling his weight in training

I guess it can be a tough to combine both roles. Being one of the boys and also being part of the coaching staff. From the outside looking in, it does seem that Potter likes to keep a bit of distance between himself and the players.

IMO that's how it should be. You might be able to have a laugh now and then, but at the end of the day he's the boss and that's something that maybe wasn't asserted enough under McNamara

my thoughts too BB and RF, you need that separation. But the thought of a coach that can not only tell you what to do, but show you on the pitch how its done is also appealing, even if for just a year and only a few games during that year.

Shawn Edwards is out of contract with the Welsh RU team. Don't know how many people on here watched Wales in the union world cup but they had a pretty mean defence, something we've lacked for a long while.

He's been head coach at Wasps aswell though (story on Beeb about him quiting that) so can't see him coming here for defensive coach job only.

Maybe not, but how long will Potter be staying? If we're going back to the boot-room mentality for our coaches then it would be sensible to get good coaches in to take over.

Yeh I did nearly put that in my reply actually but thought that if he's leaving Wasps now he won't be available again for 2013. Agree that a planned progression on the coaching side would be good. Wasn't that assumption that Cummins was lined up for this?

What about Gary Wheeler from St.Helens, heard he is talking to a few clubs, can play a few postions which Potter seems to like and played under Potter whilst at Saints.

I'd take him - if he can stay fit. His run of injuries has become something of a running joke on the saints board.
