Great kicking game throughout from Briggs but he was the standout in the second half. Linked up with the centres really well. Impressed by Arrgghh! Van! and Southernwood too.

Great second half. The young lads really impressed me there, full of enthusiasm. Southernwood & finigan especially will be pushing for a place this season.

Our right side attack was a joy to watch in the second half, finigan & platt ran some excellent lines & were always backing up the man with the ball. Briggs was excellent, took on the line well, set up 2 tries, kicked a 40/20, kicked for touch well and just impressed in general.

We won't be bad in the halves if they all play as well as they have so far - southernwood got mom & his kick for finigans first try was perfect.

Elima & whitehead will be a quality second row. Whitehead is bigger and better & elima tackles like a machine - there'll be some aching Dewsbury players tomorrow.

Sykes will find it hard to get in 17 ahead of Ah Van, Walker or platt on that showing. Ah van went okay, but won't be ahead of kearney at fb. His goalkicking was excellent again.

We looked very rusty in the first half. Second half was alot better. It was Brilliant to see a natural stand off in Kyle Briggs, he really stood out in the 2nd half, 2 40/20 aswell. Today i would have given Vinny Finigan the man of the match, his kick returns, tackling, support play and finishing was real quality. Cain Southernwood had a very good game at 7. Patrick Ah Van looks like he is going to be a very handy player to have. Good stints from Burgess, Bateman and Reed aswell.

OK back home and warmed up now icon_wink.gif

Pretty much as other have added, we were rusty and a bit sterile in the first half, and got better as the game went on. Fitness clearly told, but it was more than that, it was about things starting to 'click' between the parts of the team.

In Kyle Briggs we look to have what we did not have last season i.e someone who just looks like No6 is his natural position. Once he gets used to Super League, I think he'll be a real star. Leon who? icon_smile.gif

Cain Southernwood looks to have muscled up over the winter - it was clearly noticeable when the young lad (I think he was called Windley) came on. It was like looking at a man and a boy, when the stood side by side. Herbery is obviously going to be our starting scrum half, but I'd be quite happy to have Briggs and Southernwood as a back up option if Herbert gets injured.

I agree that Sykes is going to struggle to make the 17 on todays showing

Diskin only played 20 minutes but he looked like he could provide some real spark at acting half back. But am I the only person who is going to take a while to get used to cheering on Diskin icon_smile.gif

All round, it was very promising - albeit with the caveat that it was against lower league opposition

Briggs looked excellent out there today. I liked the look of Ah Van too. And not just the beard. Of the senior players - Elima looks quality, what a pairing in the second row we are going to have with him and young Elliot. When some of the younger lads came on - I was impressed with Bateman, Southernwood seemed to come into his own in the second half and Finigan looked really strong and hungry. Thought 15 (was it Olbison?) looked good too. Big Tom looked the part as well. And big he really is!

Bateman did look lively. He's strong for his age.

I thought Briggs was impressive especially with the boot. The two 40-20s were good as was his kicking from the hand and the little chip to set up Vinny.

We looked a bit rusty in the first half and Dews were really up for it. We seemed to keep over running the dummy half and a few passes from Diskin and O'Brien were forward and it disrupted our attack. That should improve with practice. Out wide the wingers did ok. In the centres Platt and Sykes didn't look that great but Platt had the better game. Sykes wasn't at his best in attack or defence and made some mistakes.

The young lads looked good once they got up to speed with the game. In the end fitness told and we ran away with it.

Platt didn't have the best game, but we saw glimpses of what he's capable of. Towards the end there were some great attacking movements between whitehead, Platt, Briggs & Finigan.

I can't wait to watch Whitehead progress over this season.
