Doesn't matter it will be Lee St Hillaire. Smith, Elliot, Noble, Macnamara, St Hillaire, ?

I can think of a few who've had a stab at it but not done very well and that's some time ago. Nowadays it's rarer than it used to be because generally you need to develop as a coach for a few years before getting a head coach job.

| If the rumour turns out to be true, then I feel it is important we go with somebody experienced. By 2011 we could have a pretty useful squad if we can bring in a couple of quality players. Thankfully we have plenty of time to pick who we believe ticks all our boxes.
As for McNamara, if he has been offered the assistant job at Sydney then it would be a huge move for him. I think any coach could learn a great deal from working alongside Brian Smith. If somebody offered me a very good job in Aus, I think I'd find it pretty tough to turn down too!

| I think you only have to look at what Brown has done to Hudds, McGuire at Wigan (especially with the previously underperforming Richards), Smith with WIre (ditto Matt King) to realise you should spend time there to better yourself.

Working in the NRL will be more of a benefit to him than working with Brian Smith IMO. In NRL terms he's a bit of a journeyman coach these days, and despite a long career down there with some very talented players at his disposal he has never won a premiership.
Anyway, hasn't McNamara already worked with Smith, both as a player and during a brief stint when he took over from Noble? I'd question the further benefits of him working with Smith as opposed to being an NRL assistant in general...

| I'd say the next coach is pretty much nailed on to be someone who is currently an assistant NRL coach. Can't see the point, at all, of going with any of the names so far mentioned except possibly Menzies, but I don't know if he intends to go into coaching or has any badges. If he does, I can see him becoming the next Wayne Bennett. I wouldn't mind at all letting him experiment on us.

Wrong? What do you mean? If we did go with St Hilaire, I can't see the point. Just to check your claim, I asked myself whether I can in fact see the point, but the reply I got was no, I really can't see the point. Therefore I wasn't wrong, I deffo couldn't and can't see the point.
