| Anybody else thinking we may need to throw either Crossley or G Burgess in at the deep end next week. We need some more impact off the bench, especially if they use Puletua and Faasavalu off of the bench.

| Spot on with defensive comments for the Giants. They were tremendous. Their wider / general defensive "technique" looks like it needs a bit more work though . . . . they were well and truly caned by Ganson tonight and I suspect that will continue for as long as they're marker/ball play technique continues.
Whilst they won, and deservedly so IMHO, they did not do convincingly - albeit with 12 men for 20 mins. As has been said it was in reality 3rd V 10th. I don't think they're attack has notched up that gear it needs to do. With that strong defense AND a keener attack I think they will undoubtedly be a top our team again this year. . . . .
Thought the Bulls showed a couple of glimpses of what we can become. They showed a lot of heart to stem the flow of points . . . . .they also showed a good deal of ring rustiness. But, hey, first game of the season. Timing was always going to be an issued (for both sides). The comments on RAB earlier about missing a kicker of Deac's percentages certainly came true. 12 points instead of a possible 18. Meh.
All in all an enjoyable game of RL . . . though I'd obviously have liked to have played better / well enough to take the points

| I think we were more affected by Losing Mason in the first five minutes than the sin binnings. It meant we only had 3 props all game so they had to work harder . That had a knock on effect in that our interchanges did not have the same impact they would have had if spelled properly.

We certainley need another prop on the bench, wether it's Hall and Kop or Kop and a Young Un.

20201.jpg "I'm 49, I've had a brain haemorrhage and a triple bypass and I could still go out and play a reasonable game of rugby union. But I wouldn't last 30 seconds in rugby league." - Graham Lowe (1995):20201.jpg |

| Adey - for the most part I agree. I think Kearney and Orford will click and I think we will beat many a side by playing as good as they did tonight, all it will take is the odd pass to stick, that today resulted in a knock on. However, I am also of the opinion (long held) that there are some things that are down to coaching and that we have had difficulty eradicating. Primarily a very flat offensive line, poor goal line defense and limited attacking set plays. I think we can see that Orford and Kearney offer some individual sparks that are capable of overcoming these weaknesses, but structurally these weaknesses remain. This is disappointing, but not unpredictable. Despite these flashes of individuality the structure seemed entirely reminiscent of last year and it does make me wonder about whether things will be as different as they could be. There seems to be a different atmosphere this year, a lot more hope and positivity and less division within the camp, now that certain people have left the club. However watching tonight reminded me in so many ways of Maccas reign. I hope things change and quickly, hope the half backs gel we get some wins under our belt and the charge begins, but I also fear that whilst we're experimenting with GPS etc, this is of little benefit unless we have someone capable of analysing the data and applying the lessons, without this we may still remain a mid-table club, which is a long way from Peter Hood's predictions/expectations.
Overall though there was enough tonight to indicate we could come good, let's hope it's soon and we don't have the spectre of two or three losses and the risk of an attendant dip in confidence.

Lots of Huddersfield fans have come on here and made an intelligent comment about the match.
You are not one of them

Spine of the team or not, it's not the first match and it's not the first time they have played alongside each other - they do that five days a week. Not to mention that the two most important positions on the field are supposed to know each others game inside out. They played like they'd never even met each other.
I'd rather us get off to a good start instead of leaving it till the last minute and finding out it's to late, you know, kind of like last year?
But anyway, it was a very poor performance and I hope it doesn't continue.'"
Which game did you go to watch again? We were murdered in the penalty count, spent 20 mins of game down to 12 men, lost main prop in first 5 mins and were playing against 14 as we always do with Ganson who is an absolute disgrace.
We got Robbo binned for the same thing Langley doing all the game!!!!
Don't get me wrong Bradford will be a hard team to beat and will win their fair share of games but put your bias aside for a minute and at least give a team who were defensively and attacking wise (when we were allowed to have the ball) far superior some credit.
Bradford have good attacking options but the errors were made due to the defence they were up against not a lack of undersdanding or effort.

I totally agree, Huddersfield's defence deserves all the credit it gets and more, they knew how to combat most things we did, and all in all you deserved your win.
I think it will be more evenly matched at Odsal when we've gelled a little more, but we were outplayed tonight for 60 minutes of the match.

Not sure but it was heavily in our favour. It was Giants indiscipline that kept us in the match at times and they will underachieve this season if they don't sort it out.
For Bulls i saw signs that we may come good later, though after last season it would be too easy to go all doom and gloom.

Heavily in favour of the Bulls.
And whilst he seemed harsher on the lying on for Hudds than he was for Bradford, he missed 15-20 grapple tackles from Hudds players that he could have penalised.

| Personally I thought that Bradford showed signs of being better than last year. They dropped a lot of ball, especially in the first half, and Huddersfield took their chances. The Huddersfield discipline was a slight concern to me, Gilmour especially had a bad game in that respect. It looked like Huddersfield were trying to throw the game for a while. Though the comment about Ganson missing 15-20 grapple tackles is taking it a tad far, maybe Our defence was pretty solid but we need to do a bit more when in possession. It's early days for both teams and I think both sets of fans can be reasonably optimistic.

| Unfortunate for us to meet such a well organised team when our key new players are still trying to gel. Clearly we have the potential to improve quite a bit.
On the downside goalkicking could be a lasting problem and we really need more beef up front.
