All that happens is when the majority of people disagree with you, then instead of just accepting that they, er, DISAGREE, you have to kid yourself that they have no personal opinion, or are not allowed to express it, but that somehow, some way, some authority coerces them all into "shouting you down" and sticking to the "party line".
