| Ladies and Gentlemen - we have an explanation. And very possibly, a final word.
Quote: RFL Disciplinary "The committee have viewed this incident with extreme care. The committee are quite satisfied that initial contact was between the player’s shoulder and the opponent’s shoulder. However the committee feel that the player’s shoulder then rides over the opponent’s owing to the technique used and this causes an upward trajectory which then strikes the opponent’s head. It is on the basis that the committee find the player guilty of this offence.'"
It's smoke and mirrors, as it was the "whiplash" on impact that sent O'Brien's head into contact with Scruton's shoulder, and nobody I know has suggested that Scruton's shoulder went on some subsequent upward trajectory, into the head, but if that had been what happened, then this would be a reasonable finding.
Anyway, here's my drawn line:

| So, to draw a final line under it, in simple terms we can sum up the beak's thought process as: "what the fekk new rules of Newtonian physics can we dream up to get us off the hook without looking total wassocks?"?
Sounds more like quantum physics to me though, since their case seemed to have been built either on Scruton's shoulder being in two places at once, or on not being able to know both its position and trajectory at the same time? I guess they thought that if Schrödinger's Cat could be both alive and dead at the same time, then there could be no problem with Scrutes being guilty and innocent at the same time? We mere mortals clearly underestimate the science that goes into these disciplinary reviews.

| There is, of course, the fact that Schrödinger is the German equivalent of Scruton. And "Schrödinger's cat" is an anagram of "Scröton's high tackle"

| So his shoulder can be in two places at once? I bet he is good at getting served at a busy bar....

It's an illness. It was eradicated in the UK but it looks like there might be a recent outbreak.

It's amazing what they can do with a shoulder reconstruction these days

Not who...WHAT!
You are not aware of the most legendary, dare I say iconic, thread in the whole illustrious history of RLFans?
For shame, sir!

| For me (and as I've argued all along) the key to this is that Scruton's shoulder strikes the opponent’s head. Line drawn____________________________________________________________________________________

| Absolutely conviced and certain. Bugger, I need to draw a new line.

| Ah, but as has been pointed out, as Nicks shoulder can be in 2 places at once, it can be both above and below your line at the same time. Quantum! and stuff.....
You really need to draw some sort of sphere rather than a line.

No it isn't. As you will see the term "Scruton's High Tackle" does in fact include the letter "k". However the phrase "Schrodinger's Cat" is completely devoid of the letter "k" and, in fact, also only contains one letter "h" too.
Typical Aardvark inaccuracies.
