There's a lot going on. Transitioning out of these circumstances and all that.

Not wanting to cause an argument, but did not us fans think the same about Jimmy " he's a stubborn and determined little b*****d"and unfortunately that did not work out. I hope if he does stay he can adjust to coaching lesser players than he has been used to.'"
Of course we did. They had similar qualities as players.
The difference to me is that those Manly supporters I met rated Toovey as a coach. It wasn't his record, it wasn't the fans wanting him to go , it was boardroom politics.
if he stays, the time to judge whether he can coach players of far less ability than he had at Manly, is
after he's had a say in who the club recruits,
And. A full off season to prepare those players

| Agree with all the above, but...
Has Toovey shown us anything yet to convince us that he's the right man for the job?
I dont think so.
I accept all the "unsettled squad", "no pre-season training", "could anyone have done better in the circumstances" - I accept all that - but given all those challenges has he actually showed us that he will do a better job next season - no.
However, I do think he deserves a full pre-season to show us what he can do.
I say, if he wants to (and doesnt cost too much) let him stay; but if his win rate drops below 50% he should go - simple.
He might be the messiah - but I'm not convinced yet

| For the first time ever I disagree with Bullseye on this one. Yes circumstances have been exceptionally difficult but Toovey has shown us nothing to suggest he can turn things around. In any case I believe it's academic as from the article in the YP it sounds like he cant wait to go back home at the end of the season.

| Well if he goes it's a different matter.
Wonder if Karl Harrison fancies a return to coaching?

| Keep him. But he'd have to be mental to want to stay when most of us have no enthusiasm left.

| Any coach who has to pick Vila Halafihi in the centre regardless of wins etc has had the roughest of times! If he is willing to stay I would definitely give him a go on the only provision he can put his own squad in place. Then that is for him to succeed or fall on his own sword. If it is going to be another year of scrimping and scraping someone like Greenwood would be great knows the division now and worked wonders on a shoestring, but my preference if the club is in a position to do it is give Toovey a year to put his own squad in place then see where we are

| What we do need...
1. A coach that wants to be here and can motivate players (a good coach)
2. Players that are tough RL players, that want to play for Bradford and are motivated by said coach
3. Owners that have a clearly laid out vision, a little finance to bring vision to life, and facilitate what the said coach needs, thus motivating the coach.
4. The fans will then be motivated to come and watch the motivated team and coach, the owner will then have more finance and will be motivated invest more in the team.
what doesn't motivate anyone is putting "we are going to win this week" stories in the T & A everyday, when nobody believes it least of all the players on the park.
If Toovey can't get the players on side and doing there job get rid, bring in Glenn Baraclough.

And look where Keighley are now signing all them Bowling players!!!
In all seriousness though wouldn't be a bad shout as an assistant for me. Knows the division and players and has played at a very good level himself.

| As someone who is still rather irked at the way Rohan was treated, I would love to see him given another crack of the whip. Whether he would want to drop down a level, and haul his family half way round the world again only months after going back to Aus, is another matter.
But what do I know? Much to the disagreement of many on here - I thought Lauaki was actually turning a corner and showing some real promise under Rohan by the end of last season, it was just too little too late. I felt he could actually have been a real asset for us this season if he stayed on the path Rohan set him on.

You certainly aren't on your own regarding Smith. I think he had a lot to offer and his knowledge of the game under the NRL would have helped unearth more gems like Moss

| Smith certainly had an eye for a player. His recruitment was a lot better than that experienced under Lowes/Ferres.
However we'll never really know if he was the coach we hoped he was. His side had it's own issues influencing performances like players not being paid.
I'd certainly welcome him back if Toovey left. However I would say that the last thing we need is the upheaval of bringing in another head coach if we can help it.

I agree entirely and I've always been of the opinion that the signing of a [i"high profile coach"[/i was just a Cha-Lo PR stunt.

| I struggle to see why Rohan Smith is so highly thought of. His record with the squad we had wasn't great and in the clubs biggest game in living memory the team folded like a pack of cards rolled over and died.

| Doh! when I saw redeverready as the last poster on this thread I was expecting some mystical insight into what is going to happen. No such luck.
