Who's abusing anyone, though? I thought all the posts have been perfectly civilised, and if we are not rude or abusive, yet don't believe a word of it, why can't we say so? Can't see anything that would offend the OP, if genuine.

Know what your saying dilli. Just find it it a bit unbelievable that these type of rumours are usually started by new posters, who also never seem to pick up on any positive rumours.

I'm talking in general terms on this forum. Whenever someone with a low amount of posts comes on here with a rumour they've heard, they immediately get jumped on and either called a troll or talking out of their @rse, purely because of their low post count.

Just suggesting perhaps in future it's more worth giving new users more of a benefit of the doubt before casting them out, and let them earn their reputation (good or bad) on what they post, instead of just assuming the worst each time?

I'm not saying we have to believe the post or not (I certainly don't think this one is accurate), but I think the forum has a tendency to turn away new users who might just be trying to be nice and share information they've received.

This one has been a lot better than previous ones, granted. It was just the mention of the amount of posts that reminded me to post this, when I've been meaning to mention it for a while now.

Granted, the rumours do tend to be on the negative side in these situations, but then, they are the "juicy" ones aren't they? The majority are never as interested in positive news stories.

Evidence of that was at the last two fans forums. The recent one (when everything was positive) wasn't as well attended as the one previous (when everything was going wrong).

Slightly OT but with the recent forum it was announced and then it went quiet in terms of publicity tbh, I actually forgot it was happening and didn't actual twig it was on till you updated foursquare (iphone app) that you were at Odsal. So other people might have missed it like I did. You are probably right, though too

I don't think you're the only one who forgot. A lot of people even on the day itself were asking if it was still on, since nothing had been said about it since it was announced.

It was still reasonably well attended, but nowhere near the jam packed it was at the previous one (although that's probably a good thing as a certain Mr. Duffy used the opportunity to try to embarrass me ).

Point I was trying to make though was purely that people find negative news more juicy and interesting than positive news. Always the way it is unfortunately.

It's a good point. When I first came on here it was one pre-season and I was fed information that I shared on here thinking it was gospel and made a bit of a di*k of myself. It was a genuine mistake, which I learnt from, but I was hounded for months after that. Anything I said was discounted as nonsense. I'm too thick skinned for it to have really bothered me, but I can see how people may be "scared off".

Precisely the situation I'm meaning yeah. Even if the info turns out to be false, that doesn't mean the person that's posted it is in the wrong, they may have just been fed duff info themselves. Unless they act like a kn0b about it all (like a certain "Ainscough to Hull" person did), then is it really so wrong of them to come on here and share the info with other Bulls fans?

Yeah, take the info with a pinch of salt, especially for new folk. But casting people out every time just based on that, is gonna turn away a lot of people who could potentially add a lot to the forum with their news/info and opinions/debate. Which is what we're all here for really.

It's pretty unfortunate I guess when a genuine newbie gets caught up in it but, there are trolls out there though, who get banned (from here and elsewhere) and then come back with a new name and account (and, obviously, zero posts) and just carry on where they left off.

Unfortunately, and I plead guilty, when some superficially outlandish rumour appears, the first thing many of us look at is the number of posts against the name of the OP as it often gives a clue as to how genuine the rumour might be. Once bitten twice shy is the usual adage, I guess.

Totally agree. After all there was some trumpet on here a couple of months back with an excess of 6500 posts who told us all that Moi Moi was signing.

Post count is no indication of knowledge.
