It makes perfect sense in terms of a coach who is out of his depth, has perhaps missed out on his intended target and is now grasping at straws to find an overseas player who might do a job at half back. Hope this isn't the case and I hope this signing isn't confirmed as it runs totally contrary to Hood's comments in this week's programme about NOT having a good chunk of the salary cap sat on the sidelines.

I assume you're quite familiar with Kearney. He's not a player I know much about to be honest. Have you seen him play stand off?
Or are you just unhappy about him possibly signing due to his injury record?

Hmmm well we shall have to see whether it turns out to be true, looking pretty likely though.
I'll have to reserve my judgement on this particular signing until I've seen him play a little.

And as a FB? Found a forum in Oz and a few seem to rate him as one of the better fullbacks in the NRL on there. rlclickyrl

Signing him to play at FB makes even less sense than signing him to play in the halves!
We already have two FBs and as far as I'm aware Semi would like to stay. Surely the logical thing to do would be to give Semi a new contract rather than let him go and waste a quota spot on another FB.

I was enquiring about his abilities as a fullback, as red seems to have a fairly low opinion of him as a stand off. I didn't suggest we needed another fullback and nor do I think we need one to replace Halley.

Yes, I'm familiar with him and yes I'd be surprised and disappointed if we're signing him to play as a half back. He's a reasonable fullback, who hasn't managed a lot of games for the Sharks and who is seeking a decent pay packet in the UK whilst he still has some potential. That's no disrespect to him, it's a perfectly appropriate approach to a career in RL, but if we are going to sign him as a replacement for Jefferies then it must be viewed as a big gamble and I'm not sure that taking a big gamble is the best approach for our recruitment policy whilst the team is struggling and we're in need of solid recruitment in key areas.
I have nothing against him, I'm just struggling to see how signing an injury prone fullback to be our next stand off is evidence of a sound recruitment strategy. Of course there could be nothing in it, lots of people seemed convinced Wing was coming.

Bradford get rid of one crocked Aussie and replace him with another one.
I assume your having a dig at us not picking/playing English lads instead??
Did you see our last team sheet?
We had 13 of the 17 as English lads, 7 of whom are our own academy products.
A Super league club that uses all available quota spots and develops its own players as well ....shocker!

Agreed, hope that this signing, if true, isn't going to be heralded as the solution to our halfback problems.
