Addybull is quite right re Bridge, Giants Acadamy through to first team. Contract void when Giants got relegated. Bulls signed him then.

Quote: Bulliac "Yeah, Bridge left, as a teenager, after some disciplinary issues caused concern to the then management and I'm not sure he was even 'sold' to be honest. His ability was never in doubt though, and he's played well for Wire and seems to have settled down to the rigours being a pro athlete, for which he deserves some credit, imo.

None of which applied to Atkins, who was simply not in contention for a spot, in a very strong side, when he left to get opportunities elsewhere. On the basis of you can't keep 'em all, and without the use of 20/20 hindsight, it was probably the right deal at the time, for both parties. Not sure either would be available any time soon, but there would be serious competition for Atkins if he wanted away, imo.'"

Atkins got a bad leg break and Bulls thought he wouldn't recover. Therefore Bulls let him go as spent a lot of time on sidelines. If you remember when academy games used to be on Sky he was scoring try's for fun and Wakefield coaching staff saw this and took a calculated risk on him that turned out well for Ryan long term and us for a while.

To be honest I don't remember him having significant long term injuries. What I do remember is him being fifth (imo) in the pecking order for a first team spot, and in all fairness he didn't get much first team opportunity, which as around fifth choice is hardly surprising. In those games he looked OK but never looked good enough to force his way into genuine reckoning for the first team nor was he particularly 'tearing it up' in the A-team. As I say, on the evidence at the time, it was the right decision for both. Good luck to him too, he's come on no ends and proved his point, well done that man.

I think thats correct, the first choice pairing at the time was Hape and Harris, Ryan was nowhere near that level (still isn't at that level IMHO, hes closer and hes very good, but I'd take Harris or Hape of the time still). He needed 1st team to develop, went, got it, and did develop -well done Ryan, I'm glad he made it. But I don't remember any bradford fans at the time thinking it was a terrible decision, 20/20 hindsight is brilliant.

Re Matty Blythe, think the guy is a second rower but can play at centre too. Should be quite a handy player knowing our luck with injuries (unless he gets injured as well). If we sign him is that a 'proper' signing or a loan deal?

Also, fully expecting Manuokakoa to be given a new contract, thought he was our best prop last season, and we've already lost Hargreaves and Burgess.

Actually, Gaz wouldn't be a bad shout at all. He's been close to signing in the past and he's not getting on well with Tony Smith for some reason at the moment.

If you noticed, he was dropped for the GF which was strange as between him, Mozza, Hill and Wood have been awesome in driving the Wire pack forward (not quite as awesome as the awesome foursome mind icon_wink.gif )

If this comes off I think it'd be a good signing. However, think it was one touted last year which failed to happen.

Think it's been mentioned before by a wire poster. It was in context of a loan signing rather than a permanent deal.
