SL(E) will own the newco. An owner wishing to retain the SL licence will have to find some way to make good on old debts when they buy the newco.

If a new owner doesn't wish to remain in SL then they can ignore the old debts.

And GH speaks for all the other 13 clubs?? I find that hard to believe somehow! Everyone's still guessing about as to how much the debts REALLY are! Any club(s) could pull out of this All for one lark at any point! Leaving the other teams to dip further into their own accounts!

I thought Highlanders post said it was a newco with players contracts passed over. that implies liquidation of oldco and all its debts. any repayment of those debts would be ex gratia/without prejudice payments by any buyer. So SLE are only picking up the losses incurred between now and 30th November, not old debts. The other advantage of newco should be that the contingent liability disappears, however as all conditions placed by the RFL on purchase seem to be still in existence, maybe that will still exist too. In which case it is the worst case scenario: no hope of getting out of the championship because of Odsal, however low the rent. Not able to redevelop Odsal because we dont own it. So my conclusion is that the RFL SLE ABC/GSC BMC and BB all need to get around the table smartish otherwise the best option would have been liquidation and start again totally free of anything (other than Bullbuilder).

Is there any source for statements people are making about us staying in SL if a buyer repays the debts?, or is everyone just guessing as gledhill is adamant we're in championship next yr and Platts tweet seems to back him up.

There can be only one

1. Oldco will have historic debt
2. newco will not
3. if newco new owners want SL then they make ex gratia/without prejudice payment (AF is that the right terminology?) of oldco debt off thereby demonstrating that the RFL have done their best for creditors and in particular HMRC.

What a laughing stock the Fat Controller is making of rugby league does this mean any club in super league will be saved if there about to go bust or just any of the so called top 4/5 .

So any new owner can literally BUY a Super League franchise spot!!!

Absolute disgrace, a kick in the teeth to lower leagues. Clubs submitted franchises at great expense and were deemed not worthy of a snooper dooper spot. Do you fans not think about other clubs? Why should you stay in SL? And as far as using tv money when you go into championship, well we don't get a penny off tv rights and we are not on sky. I feel for the bulls fans but there are thousands more not seen there clubs reach the highest levels.

I think some are missing the point. Next wk every bulls player will go in search of a new clubs leaving no players...or dead wood that no one wants. Many would say that the dismantling of a club isn't an unfair advantage given by the rfl
