We've been told lots of things, some true, some only true from a certain point of view IMO. I don't belive its just a couple of unexpected causes thats brought us to this point. And anyway, unexpected costs happen to all businesses, we need to budget for them to a degree because different ones will happen to us again, and we clearly have very little margin for error on our current day to day running.
I hope we can spend full cap, I really do, and events might well change my view in the next few weeks. I'm just saying ATM my gut feeling is we won't be next year, (and shouldn't be if we can't afford to) , unless something changes, and that will be reflected in the recruitment and retention policy.

Now we finally look like Potter has assembled a good, solid team of players it would be a cruel twist of irony if we had to break it apart for financial matters.
Fingers crossed we can avoid having to do that, I'd like to see the Sykes loan deal become permanent and also managing to offload Platt, Sibbit, Walker and probably Joseph.
I think, based on his peformances so far, Pryce is probably worth retaining, if only for cover in the backs. Still not sure about Briggs...'"
Agree with all that.

| Ewwenorfolk is 100% correct, Langley is essential to our team because of workload.
I think given our current squad, and cain coming through, it should be sammut we dont retain, even though I think he has done extremely well since joining. As for signings, im hoping cain s can develop into a strong 1st teamer so wouldnt want to see another hb unless they were top top drawer. We could certainly do with another prop and my number one choice would be a quality winger, although I dont see how we get these without a quota spot unfortunatley.
Id let walker, sammut, ainscough and joseph go, and think kp has a decent amount to prove for another deal

| With the Sammutt/Manu situation, it is a difficult one. I have been impressed with both of them, but you have to look at who would be easier to replace without a quota spot. For me that's Manu. There are plenty of props playing in the lower grades that could make the step up IMO.
James Lockwood at Featherstone is tearing up trees. I'd love to see him get a go at Super League with full time training and a good pre-saeason behind him.
Another is Alex Walmsley at Batley. He's naturally a very big lad, without an ounce of fat on him. He's only gone semi-pro this year and has gained many MOM awards in his first season. I do feel that he may be a longer term project though and may need another year in the Championship on loan/dual reg, so maybe not a direct replacement for an outgoing prop.

Think you may be disappointed on that score. Crookes to hull was pretty heavily rumoured even before our financial problems came out.

| Simple for me get our kids on long term contracts (ie) like leeds have. and get rid of the waste such as walker,Sibbit,Joseph, Platt and Sykes and replace with better quality to give us that extra edge.
For me i would keep nas and let sammut go even though i like the guy and feel hes brought something new to the team. I think props are hard to come by in the super-league.

Stand off is key for me as well. If we can re-sign Ollie, Nas, Hargreaves, Burgess, Addy and Donno I'd be pleased. Sorry about Crookes if this is true.

Not the end of the world really is it?
Ainscough is a great asset, I don't think Crookes has been missed.

| Are you guys judging this based on the Hull forums?
Because they aren't referring to our Crookes, they are on about a kid from their academy called CROOKS. Don't get confused.

| I hope we keep Crookes as he's comfortably our quickest player and was just showing signs of coming good.

| OOC:
Chev Walker - would let him go, injury prone and a lot of mistakes.
Ben Jeffries - If he doesnt up his game would let him go too.
Olivier Elima - sign him up because he has been a good addition to the pack
Bryn Hargreaves - has started to show what hes capable of so would keep him
Manase Manuokafoa - one of the best forwards we have signed, lets keep him.
Ian Sibbit - injury prone, has shown signs of good but is not consistent, so get rid
Shaun Ainscough - when given game time has done very well, good for future, would keep him.
James Donaldson - unlucky with injuries but will be great player, so keep.
Tom Burgess - have heard from a number of people now that he is deffo of to australia next year. A friend who he told at the start of this year accidentally let it slip out. would love to keep him though but handling needs to improve as well. also heard GEORGE BURGESS isnt settling in australia and could be looking to come back to the UK.
Jarrod Sammut - quality player and is valued asset to club lets keep.
Danny Addy - has played very well this year and will be great for future so lets keep.
Jason Crookes - has shown us all what he is capable of and will be great for future so lets keep.
Adam O'Brien - seems a good hooker when seen him play so would keep him as well.
Kyle Briggs - hopefully we can sign him on for long term he is a great player.
Karl Pryce- has been getting better, however for me he needs to stop being lazy on the wings and defend because most of the try are for him to be blamed. If he ran harder and improved his defence he could be a fantastic player.
please all put your views.

| Quote: Bulls Boy 2011 "I know it's a long way off yet but what would you change about the current squad for 2013? I'm just interested in your thoughts.
Personally I would get rid of Sibbit, Walker and Jeffries (all off contract at end of 2012). Cover these losses by playing Olbison, Addy and either McAvoy/Murphy more.
Sell Sykes to Wakefield.
Keep Platt for his last year.
I would also bring back Briggs and Southernwood back from their loans and let Gale, Sammut, Briggs and Southernwood fight for a place in the team. Starting halves obviously Sammut and Gale.
Sign all other off contract players up ASAP. Except Pryce (let him prove he wants it first).
And last be not least sign Potter for 2-3 years.'"
OK heres a chomp for you
Why would Wakefield buy Sykes off you?
tactically if hes on a wedge as reported from you I would leave him to take up your cap space the ball is in your court not ours.

| Well then we'd loan him to you again so you pay a chunk of the wages then you take him on a permanent deal. Or we agree to let him go and he signs for you. Simples.
