Doesn't count on the cap at all I don't think, as long as it was before this season started you can pay off a player, it's exactly what Warrington have done with Hicks, people were sceptical about it being allowed but then someone found it stated in the rules somewhere.

| I expected better but sadly it didn't work out for him. The timing of this and Or**rd messing us about also means we lost Beaver

| Best of luck to Glenn. Might not have set the world alight during his spell at Bradford, but we'll always have Wigan to remember him by.

Its set out in section 6.1 of Part E1 of the Jan 2010 Operational Rules.
The clause that MAY have a bearing on this is E1 6.1.4. This provides that where termination takes place before the first salary cap relevant match of the salary cap year, then the termination payment may be disregarded for salary cap purposes for "subsequent" salary cap years. HOWEVER, when you go on to read the explanatory notes, it is not completely clear whether you have to still hold a salary cap value for the CURRENT salary cap year - and remember, the salary cap year starts 1 December. It also clarifies this exemption by saying "i.e before the club has had the opportubnity to receive ANY playing services from the player" (my emphasis). I have always read this as meaning that you can discount any termination sums paid if the guy has NOT YET PLAYED for you - and therefore Hall would not fall within the terms of this exemption. But it is not at all clear whether this provision applies anew each salary cap year, or applies only at the start of a playing contract. I have read it as being the latter, but maybe someone else can go read this whole section and comment? I think this is the provision to which you refer. And I am not convinced with how it is being interpreted, to be honest.
What 6.1.2 DOES make clear is that where you terminate a player part-way through a contract, then you disregard his original salary cap value but replace it with the value of his termination settlement (or the compensation award if it goes to tribunal - 6.1.5), spread over the rest of his contract. Even though he is no longer registered with the club. That was why all those who shrieked that we should just sack the Unspreakable One did not know what they were saying.

I thought he suffered in a struggling team where he was being asked to take a different and perhaps unexpected role and we never quite saw the best of him. I hope he manages to make a success of things back in the NRL and wish him and his wife all the luck in the world with the new addition when s/he comes along.'"
This.
I'm not sorry to see him go, as I think it's best for both parties really, just a shame we didn't really see the best out of him other than glimpses for whatever reasons. All the best Glenn and good luck for the future.
It simplifies our quota position regarding the Orford/Herbert situation and once Orford disappears up his own it gives us some flexibility to recruit using the quota if required.

| Good luck to him. I hope him and his wife have a better time of it when they get back to Aus.
I'll always remember that try, highlight of the season for me.

People keep going on about this try as if it was some unbelievable "Wide to West" type moment rather than a one yard blunder over the line.

I don't mean that it was an amazing try, just the feeling that it gave me. It was done and dusted at half time, or so it seemed, and to think that we'd come back like that and scored under the sticks to win it. Great feeling.

I remember it mainly in the context of the performance rather than as a great try. It capped an amazing comeback against the best side in the league.
In his defence he timed his run onto L'Strange's pass very well and hit the gap perfectly. That's harder than it looks.

I agree 100%. It was more the performance of the team that counted, just a bit off he takes the glory.
Without that try he would rightly be remembered (or quickly forgotten) as a big pudden.

| Fair play to the guy, it didnt work out but he sounds like he has been the ultimate pro.
After his personal tragedy last year it wouldnt have been a surprise if he had tried to stay in Oz last year but as far as we are aware he came over and gave it his best shot
Good luck to both of them I say
Thanks for the effort Glen, which is more than we can say for some

| It wasn't just the try he scored but more the shoulder tackle into the rib cage of Amos Roberts that made him lose the ball that set up his moment in the sun!
Im dissapointed Glenn didn't show us what he is capable of and wish him and his wife all the best, specially in the next few months!

| Like I've said before, it's hard to judge an individual on last season as the team as a whole were poor. Coming into a strong team who released the ball in the tackle for second phase players he might have been OK but playing in a team that basically used their forwards as battering rams who had to hold the ball at all cost... it's hard to impress, especially if that's not the way you're used to playing your Rugby.
Good luck to him and his missus. At least he hasn't gone to Cas so won't come back to haunt us next season!
