| Can't fault the effort from the team tonight but still not quite taking the right options at times and it's proving costly. I was pleased with the pack tonight, they did better than I expected with us fielding a young backrow of Whitehead, Olbison and Donaldson. Koppy carried on his great form and made good yards all night. Tom Burgess also coped well despite some attempted big hits from the Hull pack.
The defence remains a worry outwide, we look so vulnerable when the ball is quickly shipped out. A centre recruit has to be a priority for next year or before if someone suitable becomes available.
Not too despondent, with some of our better defenders out it was always likely to be a tough ask.
Good to see Briggs warming up, he can't be far off being available for selection once again.

| We're our own worst enemies at times. We lost that game ourselves - if we keep giving penalties away late in the tackle count then we'll keep losing.
Some good rugby played in patches, but some poor stuff too. Defence & discipline are the 2 main areas to work on this week I feel.
We are still very much a work in progress, and I'll judge our defence properly when we have Scrutes, Langers & Elima available.

| Good performance was impressed by our tries, Ainscough kick was brill Also they high tackled Ainscough (should have been a yellow) and did 2 professional fouls (should both be yellow) and although it wouldn't have changed the result but how the hell did the ref not see Hull knock on from the scrum???

| From where I was sat it was pretty easy to see how the ref and even the linesman missed the knockon from the base of the scrum, both had 12 blokes between their vision and the ball. The in goal official however cannot have missed it. If this is the case, what is his relevence to general play?

| Once again we lose the penalty count and again it's the same players giving them away.
Sibbit came on and within 60 seconds he had Thaler blowing up for holding down and then again two minutes later, before a third penalty and ten minutes in the bin.
The penalties and high error count (12) are what lost us the game tonight.
Our left hand side D and overall sliding defence was non existent tonight and it's worth pointing out that had any other Hull player bar Radford been in support for the Will Sharp run then the game would have been over by half time.
Fitzgibon and Tickle had our number from the kick off.

Mark O'Meley caused us alot of problems too. It's like our lads don't expect a prop to pass - they all go in to tackle, he gets the pass away and it caused havoc.
Defence really needs work.

| The game could have gone either way tonight, couple of very close calls, Sykes being called back for a forward pass from Ah Van when he'd have been under the posts and 18-0 up and game over. The other being the pass for Yeaman's try that got them back in the game, it looked forward on the replay shown on the screen. The decisive try came from a botched kick that was so lucky it ended up with Fitzgibbon and an overlap outside. We lost to a decent Hull side that is poorly coached, couple of 50/50's went against us and we lost, nothing to do with being not good enough.
Sibbit on the other hand is a penalty machine, and Obst should have been at least sin binned for his head shot on Ainscough.

| Another Away day defeat. Not really happy about it, but can't expect much else. We simply dont have enough real quality. Hopefully home will stay strong all season. Surely Salford away is winnable and not winning there will be a real disappointment.

| Did anyone wonder why the blatant spear tackle by one of your guys was waved away by the ref after the touch judge had put his flag up, Thaler certainly helped you there although I think disciplinary panel might not be so forgiving.

| Our inbility to defend is my greastest gripe. It was something I hoped Potter would fix first but it is still as weak as it has been these last three years.

| Good game to watch last night IMO, however both sides look mid-table at best and a better side would have run riot with the amount of errors/wrong options both sides took.

| I didn't expect us to win and we didn't so I guess I shouldn't be disappointed.
12 -0 isn't a big lead to drop these days in Super League as many games will show you, the amount of "come backs" that seem to occur now is amazing.
We played a Hull side full of great players, who had their backs to the wall and were desperate to win to save their coach.
The results this weekend and previous weeks just show that perceived quality and top-team status mean nothing if the other side come out all guns blazing, determined to get the result. Warrington lost to Catalans, Wigan got trounced by Catalans, Leeds lost to Hull KR and it wouldn't surprise me if Quins lose to Wakey today.
The league is unpredictable and we're sitting right in the middle of it, still in touch with the teams above us with the hope of half a team returning from injury to look forward to.
Lets hope we can get a win at Salford to help get everyone up for the Leeds game.

After watching Bradford lose 30-6 and 26-0 leads in recent seasons I can assure you that 12-0 isn't even a ripple on the lake.

| While I didn't really expect us to win before the game after going 12-0 up I'd have hoped we'd have the mental toughness to go on and win it. It seems that we revert to "dumb football" whenever we're put under pressure. Why do we suffer from this mental weakness? Is it due to bad habits being allowed to take hold under the old regime? Or are some players simply not good enough?
I can't work out what's happening with Ian Sibbit this season, he's seems unable to stop giving away penalties and is something of a liability at the moment. Similarly Elliott Whitehead is already halfway to making the same number of missed tackles as he made in the whole of 2010 and he's already made the same number of errors as he made in the whole season. There's something amiss in his performances there.

Ok so i said it wouldn't suprise me if Quins lose to Wakey.......I didn't expect 52-32 to Wakey!
We finish the weekend in 8th, very much a mid table side.
Now comes the task of facing a Salford side who will be smarting from a 52-20 battering at the hands of Cas and desperate to put in a performance in front of their home fans.
There are no easy fixtures in Super League!
