I think the two parties are the Bulls and Orfords lying agent. I think then Orford will continue to talk to Canberra and Parra after he agrees his full release from us, could be sorted quicker if Canberra or Parra had put there hands in their pockets sooner and made an offical approach to Bradford (which neither club has done apparently) as thats all the Bulls are waiting for I believe, and failing that we need to sort something with the player himself.
Problem trying to follow this is mimis has been briefing only when he wants, to who he wants and what he wants for his own purpose, and any relationship with the truth seems purely coincedental...
You're right though it needs sorting, I almost feel like I'm a regular on your greenhouse forum trying to see if you guys know anything from your end, but you're all as in the dark as we are it seems

| I suspect neither of the NRL Clubs are going to pay compo for Orford up front which leaves Madam mimis trying to negotiate an up front sign on fee with them with which him and Orford can sort out compo with the Bulls . The NRL Clubs don't want to be seen to be weakening on paying for"Old" players, that is for the Poms to do not them!

| More interestingly, Connor suggested that quota/cap issues if move falls through are not a concern. Seems that the club definitely have the right things in place so that he does not come back and does not get paid regardless. Which lends weight to the idea that his contract has been essentially killed, but we hold his playing registration until we get adequate compensation.

| Whilst I don't know/fully understand the ins/outs of player contracts but I'd have expect that the Bulls wouldn't have to pay wages to a player who's not in the country through his own choice/not fulfilling their obligations of being a Bulls "player".
If that is so, then would there be any real financial constraints on the Bulls [iif[/i Orford didn't come back/sort out a release of some sorts. Surely the cards are all in the Bulls hand, the ball in Orfords court and another 10 or so other cliches

I think the worry was that since nobody was willing to pay the compensation fee, that Orford would then change his mind, realising he had no options and come back after all. Considering we'd already filled the quota without him and probably already spent his wages, that would cause a problem. However it seems that this isn't an issue and regardless of whether he finds a new club willing to pay the compo or not, coming back to Bradford just isn't an option.
Although the best thing for the club is to get the compensation and use that money, I wouldn't be terribly unhappy if he ended up just having to sit twiddling his thumbs and not getting paid for 2 years because nobody was willing to pay the fee for him. The word "karma" springs to mind.

You'd have to say that if that plays out as you describe then the Bulls would have played a blinder.

I would say more like Common Sense business practice. Peter Hood learned some hard lessons when he took over from Caisley especially where contracts are concerned, so the Bulls wouldn't be playing hardball if they weren't legally sound. It seems to be partly money and partly principles in this case!
Orford may yet regret not coming back and giving it another go with a new coaching staff and virtually new team. He could have then given notice that if he felt it wasn't working for him would the Bulls release him from his contract! I'm pretty sure they would have done under those circumstances!

Yeah this Mimis is a tool thats for sure, he is just stuffing around to much, what will end up happening is Orford will be left in the dark and have no club at all, there is a rumor that Parramatta might of given up on him, from what i gather, i'm sure the Raiders will pay a transfer fee, but what amount who knows, we might know more tomorrow morning, there is a radio show on the ABC in Canberra, so might get some news.
Good to see you visit the GH, just like a few of us have done, come over here to your forum to see if you guys have any news

Without reading what others have written, I would imagine Orford is plainly in breach of contract as he has not returned. Consequently the Bulls could sue, the compenastion would be hard to estimate (impossible for me). So they stop paying, therefore would the Bulls not also be in breach, virtually terminating the contract & making Orford a free agent? Perhaps that is what Orford & his agent are hoping for?

looks like souths are still sniffing round george. Wonder if this could factor into our halfback signing. i.e we offload hall and burgess goes on loan to souths with them sending a young half on loan in return?. Dont know if they've anyone worth having though.

Neither Sandow or Sutton are much cop, so I assume there's nobody coming through who's ready.
They've got a Mundine in their youth set-up anywhere. I wouldn't mind one of them (if he's half as good as Anthony).

| I wonder what deal we would agree to from Souths?
I guess it would depend whether George saw a long term future in Aus or is looking for a year over there before returning to the Bulls?
