| It just seems that AGAIN the club has dropped the ball.
The walk up price doesn't seem to have been decided. Surely you come up with a price at the same time you put your season tickets on sale and go "Buy a season ticket and save £x against the cost of walk up"
The Early Bird Deadline is the day BEFORE the club announces the new coach. Surely it's better to get in the best man for the job (which is what the club have said they were doing) and use his appointment to drum up some extra season ticket sales from hold outs.
I've been saying all along that the new owners seem to think that the fans will continue to show up regardless and while that may be the case, the number of fans will continue to dwindle while the club keeps on ignoring the fans.
I haven't bought a season ticket for 2018 and have no intention of doing so. I will wait until the club announces the walk up price and IF I deem it's value for money, I will attend games and pay on the gate.

| Here's a thought for you
Coach was appointed Saturday or possibly earlier and is involved in training, unveiling was due for Sunday as it was a good PR day by doing it at ST day, weather put a hold on this until next Sunday but coach will be involved this week? Roger Daly has been quiet this week, does he know what's going on but doesn't want to say?

| If the coach is in place and coaching the players we will again find out for some one other than the official lines, as a team. We are where we are for not been good enough, as a club, I can honestly say I know of clubs in lower divisions from us who are run better, where and what the is that Alwin gezzer or what ever his name is doing, because since his appointment I have heard nothing of him

| Quote: thepimp007 "I’m sure that will mean Salford to the trust. The problem is we have the same people supporting the owners as have been in the background supporting previous failed owners. It is not just the owner, he is taking advice and leaving things in the hands of people who have failed the running of the club time and again year after year. These people have a lot more influence than people want to believe and because of who they are get given a soft spot in people’s hearts. The new club was a perfect chance to rid the club of the whole management and give the new owner a new chance to bring his own trusted people in. But the reality is everything is entrusted with previous failure. This was guaranteed to happen'"
Whilst I don't disagree with most of your point, it all boils down to Chalmers doesn't it? If what you are saying is accurate and he's the subject of poor advice, it's still him who hired these people and continues to listen to them.
It feels no different to previous owners. A man at the top who constantly fails to deliver on promises (albeit a much quieter one), surrounded by the same people.

Jeez, I didn't realise things were that bad!

Here's a thought. Apparently the RFL advised Chalmers to expect a 10% drop in season ticket uptake following relegation. Supposing that we set a price and the ST uptake is so bad that the club now has a problem that they will have to set the walk up price unreasonably high to make the ST seem worthwhile, they may be worried that no walk ups will be prepared to pay it.

And it's an accurate worry. My attendance next year is going to be solely based on that walk up price. If it's the same as last year or more, I won't be paying it. The only way I attend Odsal next season is if that walk up price is lower or if they do a special offer of some sort to make it worthwhile.
Considering they're charging £15 for friendlies, and as has been pointed out, if they make the walk up price £15 (same as last year), then season ticket holders (after early bird) will actually end up paying more than the walk ups over 13 games, there's next to no chance that it's less than £16 for standing.
If figures banded around are to be believed about ST sales so far (Not far over 1K I was told), then the club have made a massive balls up with the pricing strategy IMO.

| Well they were never in a million years going to hit that 3k target. I think just over 1k isn't bad all things considered. I would expect walk up prices to stay the same at least, especially if Chalmers has based his budgets on 3k season ticket holders. There's no way they'll come down.
Personally I don't mind paying £15-20 on the gate if we're playing good rugby - I'd rather be at Odsal than doing a list of jobs around the house the wife has drawn up.
My worry is that if the budget is really based on 3k season ticket sales then where's the money coming from to fill the black hole? I don't think lower sales should come as a shock. Toward the back end of last season attendances were very low indeed, no matter what the official figures said. Anyone could see we were looking at crowds of around 2-2.5k at most in 2018.

| Feeling like money's too tight to mention at the Club.Makes you wonder if the non announcements on coach and incoming players is down to the sudden awareness of low S/T sales.Could be looking at cheaper options perhaps.

As I said previously, if they stay the same, there's no incentive to buy a terracing season ticket now the early bird has passed.
£199 for the Season Ticket. £15 x 13 games for walk up is £195. Cheaper to not get the Season Ticket even if you're going to every game. Sure you miss out on the "fast entry" to the stadium, but hey, sacrifices and all that.
They really need to be confirming the walk up price ASAP.

Which would make the sudden suggestion of John kear all the more puzzling. he's still contracted to Wakefield so we would have to agree a compensation deal with them, and I suspect Kear would also command a higher wage than many of the other reported candidates. The whole situation is as clear as mud.

Undoubtedly if we're budgeting on 3k season ticket sales then the fact that we're just under half that means there's less money (though everyone saw this coming). How they'll get Kear I don't know. He won't come cheap. I suspect other candidates must have pulled out when they found out information such as projected budgets or their salary or both.
It all seems a bit odd but if the coaching salary is peanuts for a part time gig we'll be lucky to get anyone decent. I'm prepared to hear Leigh Beattie or John Bastian getting it.
This is what happens when you get an owner with no money who isn't good at marketing and PR.
However, if by some miracle we get Kear then it'll create a bit of a bounce. Whether it'll be enough to make up the budget black hole who knows?

IF we get Kear (and that's a bloody big IF), then the club could do worse than extend the early bird offer. Not a lot of people are going to want to pay £199 for a terracing season ticket, regardless of who the coach is. At the early bird price, after announcing John Kear, they may just shift a few more.
