Club hasn't said but he was one of better forwards in dewsbury game so he hasn't been left out on performance grounds. To miss both hull and keighley he must have a niggle.

Not sure if knights game count as he wasn't selected due to being banned. Bit of a grey area. If knights game counted then he'd be back for catalans game. Pretty certain BBC report I wrong and he only misses catalans game.

| Oh and who ever decided it was a great idea to have both teams playing in white is a bloody idiot. Surely these sorts of things shouldn't be happening in a professional game.. friendly or no friendly.

BBC article seems to be saying that the 2 knights, 1 preseason friendly all result in two games left at start ie after cas game. The bite was against KR the last game.

| Kr wasn't last game. We played Wigan, crusaders and wakey after kr which all counted towards ban plus one friendly and catalans game by my reckoning.

| So basically we were shi* today. How did Purtell, Kear, Sammut, Joseph and Gale get on?

Purtell didn't have much decent ball, we barely spent anytime in Hulls 20. He was caught out by Yeaman for the 1st try and if I remember correctly he made a poor decision and went for the dummy runner for Yeaman's 2nd. The 3rd was a balls up by Kearney, failing to hoof the ball dead from a grubber through.
Kear did ok, but got no ball other than the kicks he collected.
Sammut didn't do a great deal other than a break which saw him take the wrong option when he had support. He decided to try and kick over the FB but totally missed the ball with his boot! Played the 2nd half at hooker behind a pack that wasn't making metres forward.
Joesph was largely kept quiet and was driven backwards quite a few times (not on his own there today though).
Gale put in a few decent kicks and found some space but didn't get any sort of platform from the pack to do a lot else.

| It's no excuse but in the secong half we had no hooker. O'brien was injured just before half-time therefore Sammut
was at acting half-back for the second forty. Presumably the coach couldn't risk Diskin coming back on as if he'd
been hurt we may not have had any hookers for next week ! Shades of the last match of last season when Langers
finished up playing there.

| Oh Langers went back on? And cheers Bully Boxer.
So would you say that Joseph deserves a contract?
And Sammut kicking over? Sounds like he was attempting to re-create the Magic Weekend trick Who was supporting him?

| you made some decent breaks down our suspect right hand side in the second half, but a combination of poor execution and mckinnons excellent defence prevented any scores. the first half was quite even though bradford hung on a bit, but after the break when hull quite clearly stepped the pace up you fell apart in defence. i watched a bit of purtell last year in the nrl and he shipped points on a regular basis, but he's a trier and will be better when it warms up. sad to say i think you are in for a season to match the last one, but you'll obviously be better with you first choice line up in. good luck for the season
for what its worth i think we will do ok - 6th at best

| Langley never came back on.
I would probably take a punt on Joseph given our lack of depth in the Prop forwards. I don't think he'll be in the 17 when we have everyone fit though. He struggled at times today but he'll still be adjusting to SL after a few years away from that level. I just hope Manase turns out to be a good un, otherwise we could be in for another year of struggling against the big packs in SL.

I hope you're right. At points today it really did show how weak we are in the forwards. Hull just steamrolled us and we didn't have any answers for it. I think they only had to return the ball from within their own 10 metre line 4 times today (1 of them resulting in a try).
It didn't help that we lost Langley early doors as his work rate in defence is second to none. I suppose Elima and Whitehead may have added a bit of flare when we did have the ball but we were simply not good enough today.
I'm sure Potter will have the squad fired up and ready for next week. Maybe it'll work in our favour getting a spanking the week before the season starts?
