| Firstly the good:
1. We were well disciplined for the most part. Hudders were shocking in that dept.
2. As the game wore on we defended better and managed to hold onto the ball, even if we were playing very conservatively.
3. There was plenty of effort from most players especially Langley and Kearney.
The bad:
1. We made far too many needless mistakes and put heaps of pressure on ourselves and were made to pay dearly. Some players were clearly not switched on in comparison with our opponents in the first half, particularly Halley (If Platt had played like that he;d be crucified).
2. Our attacking line was stood far too flat and far too shallow. Players had no time on the ball in the face of a good Hudders defence. We lacked any dummy runners and played one out rugby for the most part that was easy to defend against. As a result we struggled against a side reduced to 12 men for 20mins in the 2nd half. Too often we appeared to be playing predictable rugby with no real questions being asked of the Hudders defence.
Things will hopefully improve as players get used to Orford and Kearney. We lacked intelligent runners tonight and the playmakers had few options but to give it to the one out runner every time. Our centres, fullback and backrow need to work together better to create options for the halfbacks. Tonight I thought our backrow was anonymous as an attacking force and our centres were often like headless chickens.
Finally credit to Hudders who looked very well organised. They were quicker and stronger at crucial times and had enough in the tank to be able to cope despite having crap discipline. Had they curbed the penalties they could have been out of sight.

| Just got back from the game, my thoughts ar Huddersfield always looked like they were going to score when they got anywhere near our line, we need to learn some composure with the ball and sone of the pressure on the kick on the 5th tackle was none existant when it was in the air, it was the first game and it looked like they were missing some co-ordination.
Huddersfield deserved the win but if we play that bad and still are that close, well maybe there's hope.

| Well, I don't know about the lads on the field, but I'm exhausted after tonight's game.
One thing I can't figure out though........
We were weaker in attack, or defense ??

| 4 tries to 3 away at last year's cc finalists and 3rd placed sl side. Excuse me if I refrain from applying my Mach 3 to my wrists just yet.

| I think that the main positives for you tonight were your discipline, and Langley who put in a long stint and made plenty of metres. Donaldson impressed me when he came on also, did a lot of tackling, in his first set he made 3 tackles consecutively.
The main point for improvement for me is the depth of the attacking line. Orford tried playing too flat, and this was leading to a lot of errors as Huddersfield defenders were waiting for the man recieving the ball near enough every time.

Fair enough, and I thought we played really well.
That's what worries me

| From a neutral perspective (I didn't want either of you to win), I just thought it was a case of Huddersfield gelling better and being more enthusiastic. Lots of handling errors is usually a sign of a team that is not yet a unit, but that will come. It's the timing of the season that is most important, and I would rather be firing on all cylinders in August than March. Once Orford and Kearney get going, I think you'll have a good year.

| orford put everything into that game, he was asking the ref about decisions but not gettin in his face too much, he was leading the side but i think hes trying to play fast rugby before the ground hardens up and its not going to work.
we looked like we had no co-ordination on the pitch, langley running in front of the ball carrier and causing us to get penalised.
dont think macca has worked with them enough on working together on the pitch and set plays.
got to give it to the giants they did play very well but their disciplin was disgusting.

| Firstly congratulations to Huddersfield I thought they showed once again that they will be a very tough side to beat this year. Defensively they are rock solid and we just didn't have enough to break them down today.
I thought we looked disjointed and it is clear it will take some time for our new halfbacks to gel with the rest of the team. It didn't help that Kearney had a nightmare and pretty much everything he did seem to go wrong! I certainly don't think much of his short kicking game but he needs to work on it because we need a 2nd option to Orford. But he has looked good in pre season so I won't be writing off his stand off credentials just yet.
Plenty to work on and the timings and understanding will need time, unfortunately we don't have much of it with another very tough game coming up next!
Positive- I thought Sheriffe had one of his best games in a Bulls shirt and Langley worked his socks off.
