| Quote: daveyz999 "Not sure I agree with this, his defence yesterday was poor but the lad is a try machine. In any team he will always score tries.
I've seen some pretty decent defensive performances from Ainscough this year, yesterday was just a bad day, and in all honesty he wasn't the only one to make the defensive mistake!
I think Ainscough offers us more on the pitch than Kear. Kear is a still a little raw for me.'"
The last sentence I agree with.
I've always felt Ainscough has talent with ball in hand, I just wish his defensive characteristics were polished a little more. That said, with a stronger centre around him, who knows.

| Lets not get carried away chaps, cas are a lightweight poor side at the moment. I was gutted that they scored 12pts against us...

| Given the disruption I was just glad to take both points. I thought Ainey was OK, he's got so much commitment and gives his all for the cause so I'll not go overboard on his (undoubted) errors, for sure he's not the best defender in the squad but neither are the players around him to be fair.
I think Gale is improving game by game, and in case we forget, he's already missed a large portion of the season with injury, so it bodes well for the future. Kearney took his chances well and also cleared up well in defence, and there was little to complain about with anything we did with ball in hand. We were strong all across the field on attack.
Wish I could say the same about the defence, but you can't replace so many players one week to the next without it having some effect on the structures. Just hope it's patched up before Saints on Friday - Mon/Fri, who came up with that stupid idea?

| Good win under the circumstances. Players coming in from the cold, new partnerships, off field worries etc. Defensively we should improve before Friday, but given the quick turn around and little option of rotation due to the mass injury list I can see us being on the end of an ugly scoreline on Friday. Hope I am wrong, but think we might get a bit of a hiding.

| There is always hope, and looking at their last few results it would seem the Saints have been adopting some of our defensive patterns?

| To be fair to Ainscough i don't think he was helped by Platt, one of the tries Platt did a 360 and had his back to the defence. If Ainscough was outside Lulia, his defence problems would be ironed out as Lulia is one of the best defensive centres around. His pace is a lethal weapon and gives us so many options and he runs his blood to water coming in looking for work.
Gale needs to work on his defence as he was one of the worst last night and got caught completely out of posiion (and to be fair not for the first time this year)
Kearney was class and i thought L'estrange ripped them to pieces from the ruck. Slightly disappointed as i feel 1t 22 - 4 or 34 -16 we should have kicked on and improved our points difference. Tackl bags should be out this week.

| Great attacking play tonight, particularly when Kearney came in the line. Defensively we were very poor and we'll get stuffed at Saints if we defend like that.
As has been said we miss Langley's defence up the middle and we were giving cheap yards away around the ruck. On the fringes we looked weak too, Gale, Jeffries, Platt and Ainscough don't inspire great confidence. I can see Saints throwing a lot their way.
Thought L'Estrange had a great game.

That's always been the case, and is primarily why we (Wigan) let him go to Cas, and probably why Cas let him go to you. Don't expect him to change much, just hope that he scores more tries than he concedes.
Well done on pushing Leeds out of the top 8, and hope you guys do manage to survive financially!

| L'Estrange, Kearney, Gale worked well together. Thought Jeffries showed some nice touches too, but we'd look better with Sammuts spark and pace.
Like others have said, in attack we were very good (especially first half) but much work needed on defence.
Thought Olby looked strong, but Sibbit looked to have gone backwards. L'Estrange ripped them to bits in his first spell but when Addy came on we lost direction (who was captain anyway?). Next week i'd like to see addy into Sibbits place and O'Brien on bench as hooker.
Oh, and Pryce will not win anyone over when he watches a high bomb bounce right in front of him. Summed up difference between him and Ainy. Both have weaknesses, but Ainy will work his b0llocks off to try and make up for them.

Harsh at best! The ball bounced directly between him and Kearney. Both to blame. Should have been a call.

| A win's a win and our attack was pretty clinical in the first half, but we made it hard for ourself with shocking defending throughout!
We gifted Castleford most of their tries as we made a poor side look okay.
The thing is with Chase, he's only a good player if you give him space. Close him down and wrap him up and he'll make mistakes and gets annoyed... he doesn't like being tackled. Most overrated Man of Steel in my lifetime!
Wigan/Warrington/Catalans etc would have scored 70 against Cas yesterday and I'm not really sure why Millward is still in a job.
But you have to look at the positives... Kearney, Gale, L'Estrange, Bateman, Whitehead, Ainscough, Olbison and the props all had good games and are showing signs we'll be a top 8 side at the end of the season!
Long may the wins continue, COYB!

If right then apologies, looked to me as though Pryce got under it then bottled it.
I've defended Pryce this season though. But we brought my sister to the game who hasnt been yet this season, but she asked me why the winger always has his hands on his hips looking knackered and why on 2 occasions he let people run past him with no attempt to tackle.

I wonder, did she also ask how that same winger managed to get out two incredible passes that resulted in one try and should have resulted in a second, if Sibbit had been aware

| The last few seasons we usually seem to uneasy about handling bombs on the line. Kearney usually has a good pair of hands and I thought he would just have claimed the ball landing between him and Pryce.
My main gripe about last night was no-one seems to come an support the man looking to take the catch. I think there were two or three players stood watching when Ainscough dropped it - they should have been awake as in these situations the scores usually come from someone picking up a loose ball.
Pryce seems to have the turning circle of a supertanker and if passed always seems to give the opposition a 10m start, but he slipped a couple of excellent passes last night to his credit.

The first one yeah.
Not saying he didn't do anything good, but he still has alot to work on. Still worth an extension for me, he's done more good than bad on the whole.
