| Quote: Adeybull "The above is pretty interesting reading.
Apart from believing the poster makes a sound point, that list makes grim reading. 11 mainly senior players (and I suspect that is far from a complete list, to which you woudl add other earlier-in-season injuries?) sidelined for protracted periods. Whilst far from excusing the collapse of confidence and seeming abilioty to defend that we have seen so often, it is surely no wonder we have struggled this year?'"
Yep, that's not including the serious knee injuries Donaldson and Halley had to come back from, the knee injury Steve Crossley has just returned from and the two injuries (knee ligament and broken wrist) suffered by Kyle Briggs.
Herbert started the season with an existing hamstring problem didn't he? Then Platt's been out for a month with a hernia injury, Hargreaves has missed a few weeks after rolling his ankle and Sibbit missed another two/three games with a back injury if I remember rightly.
Like you say, it's certainly not an excuse, particularly as much was made about the newfound squad depth available to the head coach, but it hasn't helped. A lot was made about Saints' struggles against injury but Bradford's problems almost seem to have slipped under the radar.
That said, there's only so long you can use mitigating circumstances as a crutch. Whether through more effective gameplans, better individual performances or improved technique, injuries need to be circumvented.

| Anyway, shouldn't we be free of certain financial commitments in time for the next round of recruitment?

| We need a nasty forward. We're far too nice in the pack apart from Elima. This might give Herbert and Jefferies some space. Unless we can find better than Ah Van & Herbert, we might as well keep them to get some cohesion going. Ah Van has had some bad games, because he's been out of position. Makes huge metres forward for us and as i've said many times, we don't plat to his strengths which is attacking a high kick.

| I don't think we are that unfit, and Geoff Evans has a very good reputation in a number of sports.
As another poster alluded to, I think its more to do with our errors, penalties, missed tackles etc which mean we don't have the energy left to compete for the whole game.

| I too said our fitness isn't helped by our rugby, in attack where we don't use the ball enough or defence which we're doing too much of. In my opinion we're not as fit as the top sides, just my opinion

| Ewwen is spot on. I've put it before on here, but Geoff Evans is world class as a conditioner. It's a bit like saying we could get rid of Sam Burgess, as he couldn't rally the '09 Bulls. Trust me, Evans isn't the problem. Again as Ewwen says, stupid penalties and bad defence is way more to blame.

We have a world class conditioner, the problem is the amount of pressure and work we give ourselves.
Quote: Frank Whitcombe "2. Defensive Coach, we're miles behind in technique, enthusiasm, and implementation (see above)'"
Agreed.
Quote: Frank Whitcombe "4. Top drawer scrum half, even if we need to pay a fee! We can't wait any longer to grow our own. A fee could come from surplus cap not spent this year before it goes on painting the toilets'"
Who says this hasn't already been sorted for next year?

Based on nothing more than bitter experience I'm fairly confident.

Agree
Another major issue we need to sort if our defence which is awful at the monment i would like us to bring in another defence coach. Hopefully that will be
high on the recruitment list for MP next sesaon.

Herbert?
I'm praying for a Robbie mark II or Lulia to be a Hape/Volcano mark II
p.s. we haven't missed much in Hohaia or Seymour - neither have done much for the Warriors this year

The club also won't have to deal with a will he/won't he come back fiasco that will hamstring recruitment and leave us short of leadership in the half back area

poor reporting or have we maybe gone back with an increased offer?. suspect the former and leons comments sound like hes catalans bound too. Dont know why they dont just come out and announce it though.

| I really hope we don't sign Pryce. Not because he's not a good player. But he's not the good player we NEED. We've got Jeffries, Briggs, and possibly Herbert who can all play the half back role Pryce plays. We need someone like a Paul Deacon, Henry Paul, hell even Matt Orford type of player to give the team better direction and leadership from half back

Exactly what I've been saying for months. Pryce is a better running standoff than any off the players we already have, no argument. He isnt a better organiser though and thats the role that has to be the priority for me. jeffries and herbert can both do the organising role in a limited fashion but neither are a long term solution IMO. Either of them would look a lot better alongside a decent organising half though.
Suspect once the Saints/Catalans game is out of way then Catalans will announce Pryce signing next week.
