Would be a pretty powerful appointment. Is he working since his little local difficulty (or stitch-up?) with Souths?
Edit
It's a bizarre one right now, since the roosters have lost out on their first choice assistant Taylor was told he had a chance of the job but as he still hasn't had a offer so he's decided to look overseas, with Bradford or saints been his choice (not Huddersfield for obvious reasons).

| At last we have had some kind of comment from Odsal. I know these things are never talked about in the public for confidentialty reasons but some sort of low down on number of applicants, time scales, when we may get to 2nd interview stage has been alarmingly quiet for me. Probably a month then to an announcement. Are we betting on o/s coach or from within super league?

That I wouldn't want him taking over as he's unproven. Not unless we get an older head on board aswell for a couple of years, but we couldn't afford that anyway.

Yes he is. He's proven he hasn't a clue.

| Lowes will no doubt receive the backing of Tony Smith and McNamara and will be one of the favourites to land the job. Lowes probably wasn't quite ready when he took over at Wire but he may well have the qualities to be a good HC. He is probably my all time favourite Bulls player, but I don't know whether I'd want him as Head Coach right now.
It would be interesting to see the short list, I'd like to think we could attract somebody with a proven track record this time around though.

Whilst I have my doubts about Lowes as a contender, you have made some valid points regarding the timing of his take over last time and how he might approach it this time
I'd like someone with a proven track record this time round but that might not be possible

I couldn't help reading into this that Smith might want rid of a potentially disruptive influence. Then again, if not, that's some praise from one of SL's most successful coaches.
Either way I think if Bradford can afford to they should try and bring in someone from outside the club (with minimal ties to it), preferably an experienced NRL assistant or 1st grade coach. It has been a long time since someone outside the Brian Smith 'school' has been in charge and it probably wouldn't hurt to have a breath of fresh air.

| The appointment of Lowes (if it happens), really would give a huge indication of how tight the budget really is at Odsal (IMO).
No disrespect to Jimmy, fantastic player, doing a good assistant job, but to give him the reins at the Bulls could be potentially disastrous.
As I've said before, an Aussie would be the way to go for me, bringing some fresh ideas in with him.

I read into Lowes retention at Wire that it was all part of the pay-off for losing the HC gig. Even Wayne Bennett needs someone to put out the cones & shout occasionally.

Agreed.
However I have a potential solution.
I was chatting to Ridlerbull at the Leeds game about this and it could be a goer. Why don't WE apply? We all think we know it all. Perhaps we should send in an application? Now there may be a few logistical problems (who goes to the interview?) and if we're successful we'll need a much bigger dugout but these aren't insurmountable. We could have specific posters taking on different elements of the job. Mick G could do the after match interviews and blame it all on the ref. FA could look after the intricacies of explaining the rules. ME could provide the team with a stirring team-talk to get them all positive!
They say 2 heads are better than 1. How about 200 heads?

Jesus can you imagine how long it would take ME and FA to come to an agreement?! They'd be arguing over head or tails for the coin toss...
