My main recollection of Don Valley that night was that [dela mate of mine[/del a guy that I worked with who'd definitely drunk far more than was sensible (even with 1990s guidelines) decided it would be a good idea to do a streak round the running track before the match. To be fair, I call it 'a streak' but he kept it, well sort of decent, by keeping his undercrackers on. Anyway, the Old Bill in Sheffield took a slightly different view and said they intended to throw him out. When asked what he thought about that he replied that they couldn't throw him out because he had no clothes on. Believe it or not he got away with it, since, once they'd stopped laughing, they let him stay in.
