| If it's going to be set up like the Boxing Day game, make sure you get there in plenty of time before kick off as there'll only be 2 turnstyles open

| It will be for cash flow purposes. if they offer a half or quarter season ticket at some point as I seem to recall has happened in the past, that might sort your problem Paul. Give them a call to see if they have such plans, it might just sow the seed or nudge them along. Until then, they are bringing the cash flow forward, and the technology is there - has been for a long time - to do it. cash flow shouldn't be a problem now, but later in the season it will be. Gone are the days of creditors accepting end of month following terms, its 30 - or 14 - days from invoice date. So pulling receipts forward to keep the creditors quiet between home games is necessary. I cannot wait to see the accounts for last season as they may reveal how the miracle was achieved, though the small company exclusions may render them worthless for analysis.

| So isn't it actually the case that if you buy before hand you are getting it cheaper, but if you buy on the day it's normal entry price? That might be a better way of psychologically reconciling yourself with the higher fee?

Leeds,Huddersfield,Wakefield,Keighley all charge extra when you purchase on day, Bradford city is £20 before match day and £25 on match day. Sure they will be more clubs too.'"
Plenty of places hike the prices up on matchday and have for years. I'm not aware of other RL clubs that hike it by a fiver, but that's not to say there aren't any. I think people are OK with paying an extra couple of quid, but when you start getting to £5 or more, it will put some off.
It's certainly put me off for this week for example. I'm not going to get time to go up to the ticket office today now (was hoping to, but work has got in the way), and no chance I'll ever pay an extra fiver on matchday, so decision has been made to just not bother. Even if I could pre-order a ticket now and collect it on Sunday, from the horror stories I've heard from friends who went on Boxing Day, I can't be bothered queueing for all that time just to collect it.
As much as people can no doubt see the reasoning they're doing this, the fact remains that putting the price up on matchday, and having these convoluted ways of selling tickets instead of just letting people pay on the gate, means some fans will be put off. I know a lot of that is purely down to people's laziness or stubborness, but people want their matchday to be an enjoyable one, not a frustrating one (save what happens on the pitch). Hopefully for the club the extra money they make/save by using this method, makes up for those it loses.

Bang on.
Aside from my own specific situation, how many people are there - largely at the... ahem.. 'older end' - who simply have no means of ever buying a ticket via 'that new fangled Internet thing'? Are we really expecting a 75 year old bloke who lives in, say, Baildon or Greengates, to get two buses to Odsal to buy an advance ticket? Clearly not. So why should that person have to be penalised (and however you dress it up, it does feel like that)? It feel annoying at best.
I just don't see an upside to it. All it does it make it much less likely that you'll get a decent 'walk up' support. I mean, how many people might there be who (obviously not in January) who look out of the window at lunchtime on a sunny Sunday and say to their missus: 'It's a lovely day, shall we go and watch the Bulls?' Then they find out it will cost then an extra tenner...

| If you can manage to post on here and have access to a printer it's not that difficult. However I'd prefer to pay at the turnstile too and wonder if this way of doing things is actually saving any money.

| At the end of the day, the club will be utterly mad if they spurn money from folk who simply want to turn up and pay on the gate. For sure, I can understand that they prefer fans to buy up front (what business wouldn't?) but we're not some homogenous lump that can be taken for granted; we're individuals, with individual reasons for choosing different options, including the choice of paying match by match. The club have to respond to that need or lose money and I'm far from sure we can afford to throw potential income down the drain.

| I go to most games home and away and i always pre-purchase a ticket for a mate that comes with me most of the time. I love the new system online. Its so much easier that i can print the ticket. My mate doesn't use computers and has an old Nokia! So i do it for him.
If people are really that bothered about going, i'm sure they could either ring the club and purchase a ticket over phone and collect on the day or get someone to order online for them.
This time last year we just had a club, i personally think the club are moving forward.

I don't have a printer. I'm almost completely paperless. But it has now bitten me on the backside when my smartphone had it's tumble.

I think that's the key.
If it is saving the club a ton of money on turnstile staff. If it's getting them the same amount of money they'd normally get on a Sunday, but they're getting it earlier in the week, then it probably does justify the decisions as a bigger picture thing. Sure it might be inconvenient for me and some others, but if overall it's better for the club, I fully expect them to do that. Without access to that information though, it's difficult to know. You would hope someone at the club has done the maths and worked out it's the better option. But considering the way some others things have been dealt with in the last 12 months or so, it's hard to have that confidence.

| Try to think of it as a £5 discount for booking early, rather than a £5 penalty for deciding late

Yep, heard this in the shop this morning, although think they said just two gates with 2 stewards with hand held scanners on each.
