| Quote: Bulliac "I can't imagine Geoff is on big bucks, to be honest. Firstly because we're simply just not a 'big bucks' organisation and secondly because I don't think Toovey is that big a draw after his time in charge at Manly. He won a championship, fair enough but overall he was hardly a great big rip roaring success. I doubt we were in any auction to get him here. Favour to an old buddy, maybe?'"
I hope he stays and sees the job through.
I was in Perth last month and went to the Manly / Warriors game. A group of diehard Manly fans had travelled from Sydney . When they recognised my Bulls shirt they started chatting. First question was " How's Toovs doing"? . Clear they think of him as a legend because of his time as a player .
More importantly all of them rated him as a coach and thought he was badly treated.
He did have strong links with Lowe but he had no need to come. He is a qualified Charterd Accountant, he had a regular spot on their RL shows , and he was a Board member of their equivalent to the Automobile Assn.
All those Manly fans agreed he would have come because his first love is League and as one of them said " he's a stubborn and determined little b*****d".

| I'd be interested to hear why those who want Toovey to stay think that he is even remotely qualified for the job that he'd be required to do in League One?
That's a genuine question. I genuinely don't understand why people would think he's the right person for the job.
For the same reasons I don't fancy Toovey in the job, I wouldn't want Wayne Bennet either!
Horses for courses IMO

Not wanting to cause an argument, but did not us fans think the same about Jimmy " he's a stubborn and determined little b*****d"and unfortunately that did not work out. I hope if he does stay he can adjust to coaching lesser players than he has been used to.

| TBH think until club come out and make a statement as to what their plans are for next year and what level of funding is available then its difficult to say whether Tooveys right man for job or not. Silence from club at moment is deafening.

| I'm not clear on the rationale that "an English coach" would automatically be better. Especially as we don't know who that would be.
Toovey has experience of playing and coaching at the highest level. Normally that would make him favourite for the job. I think some are judging his ability solely on performances this year and not looking atvthe bigger picture enough. We could have had Sir Peter Fox in charge this year and we'd still have gone down. Toovey's win ratio in the NRL is better than most.
Unless we can be certain of getting anyone better we should try and keep him. The last thing we need is more uncertainty and change. We need stability.

There's a lot going on. Transitioning out of these circumstances and all that.

Of course we did. They had similar qualities as players.
The difference to me is that those Manly supporters I met rated Toovey as a coach. It wasn't his record, it wasn't the fans wanting him to go , it was boardroom politics.
if he stays, the time to judge whether he can coach players of far less ability than he had at Manly, is
after he's had a say in who the club recruits,
And. A full off season to prepare those players

| Agree with all the above, but...
Has Toovey shown us anything yet to convince us that he's the right man for the job?
I dont think so.
I accept all the "unsettled squad", "no pre-season training", "could anyone have done better in the circumstances" - I accept all that - but given all those challenges has he actually showed us that he will do a better job next season - no.
However, I do think he deserves a full pre-season to show us what he can do.
I say, if he wants to (and doesnt cost too much) let him stay; but if his win rate drops below 50% he should go - simple.
He might be the messiah - but I'm not convinced yet

| For the first time ever I disagree with Bullseye on this one. Yes circumstances have been exceptionally difficult but Toovey has shown us nothing to suggest he can turn things around. In any case I believe it's academic as from the article in the YP it sounds like he cant wait to go back home at the end of the season.

| Well if he goes it's a different matter.
Wonder if Karl Harrison fancies a return to coaching?

| Keep him. But he'd have to be mental to want to stay when most of us have no enthusiasm left.

| Any coach who has to pick Vila Halafihi in the centre regardless of wins etc has had the roughest of times! If he is willing to stay I would definitely give him a go on the only provision he can put his own squad in place. Then that is for him to succeed or fall on his own sword. If it is going to be another year of scrimping and scraping someone like Greenwood would be great knows the division now and worked wonders on a shoestring, but my preference if the club is in a position to do it is give Toovey a year to put his own squad in place then see where we are

| What we do need...
1. A coach that wants to be here and can motivate players (a good coach)
2. Players that are tough RL players, that want to play for Bradford and are motivated by said coach
3. Owners that have a clearly laid out vision, a little finance to bring vision to life, and facilitate what the said coach needs, thus motivating the coach.
4. The fans will then be motivated to come and watch the motivated team and coach, the owner will then have more finance and will be motivated invest more in the team.
what doesn't motivate anyone is putting "we are going to win this week" stories in the T & A everyday, when nobody believes it least of all the players on the park.
If Toovey can't get the players on side and doing there job get rid, bring in Glenn Baraclough.

And look where Keighley are now signing all them Bowling players!!!
In all seriousness though wouldn't be a bad shout as an assistant for me. Knows the division and players and has played at a very good level himself.

| As someone who is still rather irked at the way Rohan was treated, I would love to see him given another crack of the whip. Whether he would want to drop down a level, and haul his family half way round the world again only months after going back to Aus, is another matter.
But what do I know? Much to the disagreement of many on here - I thought Lauaki was actually turning a corner and showing some real promise under Rohan by the end of last season, it was just too little too late. I felt he could actually have been a real asset for us this season if he stayed on the path Rohan set him on.
