| If it plays out along the usual lines, he'll pick up a season ending injury in the first 10 minutes at Batley anyway...

Sironen has only signed to the end of this season, there's every chance Tonga has done the same. Or failing that, contracts will probably be void once we go down anyway so we could sign him for the next 25 years if we want - won't mean a damn thing come the end of the season.'"
No mate just how the table stands you would be relegated with the rules. Agree Toronto have some top players and I suppose if the money is good it does not matter which division.

| Well been told this morning how much supposedly Tonga is getting paid. The source is iffy but he is friends with an agent and also has links to the game. He has also told me about an offer made of a two year contract to a current super league player and the money supposedly on the table. I don't want to name anything as it will probably (and in a way I hope it is) be nonsense but if its right about the money on the table there should be a competitive side built if that is on offer to the better players. I am surprised by the figures and more so hope if it is true all cloth has been but accordingly
also like to add im not in the market for i know this and that but just wanted to put it there incase its true there could be reason to be optimistic

Would said 'current super league player' be coming anytime soon or is the contract for next season?

Didnt i somewhere Chalmers has a number of businesses. Not saying for one minute he is minted, truth is i don't know.
Surely the RFL will keep their eye on the management this time. They're heads are on the block as it was 100% their choice of owners. Mind you, with what's happened at Swinton doesnt seem the RFL believe in monitoring whats going on at clubs

| If our owners have money it begs the question: 'why have they waited until we are all but relegated before starting to spend it?'

| Chalmers has had a lot of businesses but the only information I can find about him links to the ones that failed.
I reminded of this post01/01/2009 Director Vinnie Weir demonstrated the concerns of a growing anti-Chalmers faction when he told the Sunday Star-Times he would demand a full financial statement at that meeting from Chalmers after claims the NZ league was more than $1m in debt.
06/2009 Harvest Pro, a Silverdale-based company, run by two directors – Zane Cleaver and former NZ Rugby League chairman Andrew Chalmers – was contracted to do a pre-harvest survey. The company produced an inventory and it is understood that on the basis of that report and advice from a company in Whangarei, the Council (now Auckland Council) decided to proceed to harvest even though the trees were still relatively young.
05/01/2013 Former Kiwis coach Graham Lowe is involved in a bid by racehorse owner Marwan Koukash to take control of financially troubled Super League club Salford.
Lowe has flown over from New Zealand at the request of Koukash, who has spent the last week negotiating to buy the City Reds.
He is also working closely with former New Zealand Rugby League chairman Andrew Chalmers and Ed Farish, a former finance officer of Australia's National Rugby League.
Both are associates of Rugby Football League chief executive Nigel Wood, who has helped broker talks with both long-serving Salford chairman John Wilkinson and Salford City Stadium owners Peel Holdings and Salford Council.
02/05/2014 Harvest Pro ceased trading last year, owing more than $25 million to creditors, although the joint venture was not listed as one of the 150 unsecured creditors.
31/01/2015 New Zealand league legend Graham Lowe's former recruitment company has been put into liquidation owing Inland Revenue almost $1 million.
Now a reminder of how these two are supposed to measure up having passed the criteria stipulated by their mate;
* Three-year budget forecast and proof of funds
* Details of the experience the relevant individuals have of running rugby league or other sports clubs
* Proposals relating to the recruitment of sufficient staff in order to be ready to start the 2017 season on time and whether the playing squad will be full or part-time;
* Completed Fit and Proper Person forms for relevant people;
* Confirmation that the directors/shareholders of the new company are prepared to provide personal guarantees to support their assurances that the club will complete its fixtures in 2017, 2018 and 2019
* If those fixtures are not completed then all central distributions paid in that season will be repaid by the club or directors/shareholders
* Proposals relating to an Academy
* Proposals relating to fans who bought season tickets for Bradford Bulls
* Proposals relating to the ‘RL debts’ money owed by Bradford Bulls at the time of the administration, which will be about £50,000.
Hope this turns out to be better than I think it will.'"

Thats the bit that worried me whether league 1 or championship if we are able to throw that sort of money about I sincerely hope its affordable, although I would also say it is in better hands with Toovey than Steve Ferres

| Quote: paulwalker71 "If our owners have money it begs the question
Maybe they had enough of seeing their new signings get long term injuries in the first few games they played haha Smith, Chisholm, Gibson. Not even funny our injury luck!
In fairness, if Lee Smith & Dane Chisholm hadn't have got long term injuries after 4 and 1 game respectively, i would imagine we would have had a few more points on the board. If we'd also managed to have kept that left hand side of Bentley/Oakes/Ryan together for longer, we probably would have had even more points. Injuries have crippled us this year. Be interesting to see how many players we jave used this year. We've used around 7 loan players i think.
Maybe the owners saw this season in that they already spent a huge amount of capital trying to get a club together. Starting on -12 the odds were stacked against us and maybe they see it making more sense that rather than throwing money to inevitably be relegated, they decided to invest that will see us win L1 and move forward. As others have said, If we asemble a team that shows we mean business in rebuilding the club next year, then im on board.
Ive said it before, the work John Bastian does will see us with a HG squad that could see us compete to get back in SL again one day. Get off-field stability and on the field make an improvement each year while our academy products develop.
