I would certainly be swapping out Charnock for Keyes. And I think there's a case for maybe starting with Oakes and putting Mellor on the bench

To be honest, with the size of our squad I'm pushed to see who's there and who isn't, not much room to see how the grass is growing either.

It's a real shame with Gaskell. He's gone from being a bit of a hero with our fans for staying with us when we got relegated and then winning Championship Player of the Year, to now being generally quite disliked for this "I don't want to play and risk being injured for Huddersfield" rubbish. Sad that he'll probably (and justifiably) be remembered for that, rather than the good stuff.

My soothsayer tells me that he'll be travelling to Shudds via Lourdes, where he will become miraculously fit, pull the bus back to Blighty, and play almost every 2017 game.

Not sure what position they intend to play him but I hope for their sake they have adequate cover for Biscuit Boy. It would be nice for him to return in next year's 8's so we can give him an appropriate send-off.

Well that was a dour, scrappy, and sometimes just plain weird game...

Job done. Well deserved winners with Mellor showing some great work out wide. Roll on next week. Let's end this disappointing season on a high.

Also, can we have more than 2 turnstiles open next week? Only Bradford would have a delayed kick off for their lowest attended game all season.

Back from the US for a couple of weeks, so got to my first game this year - a few observations;

1. Despite being full time we didn't look particularly fitter than our part time opponents
2. Despite training all week we didn't look more technically capable
3. With all week to work on game management we didn't look more tactically astute
4. Our pack is very soft
5. The refereeing standard was woeful

Hoping I'll be told we had an off day, if that's a fair reflection of where we're at I'm very worried about ever returning to SL under the current system.

That said I will also hope a full off season with Rohan Smith can shape us into a useful side!
