From the predictions thread everyone expects us to win this.

Are people really that confident? I’m not. Confidence is low. Heads drop at the merest setback. We lack direction. We’re ripe for the taking.

I'd like to think we could kick on from a scrappy win and put a bit of a run together... Do it tough tomorrow night and go in to sunday with a bit of confidence.
Whether that happens or not, mind you!

This next block of games I'll just settle for a winning result. By the time we face Batley we will have some tired bodies, it's probably going to need one of our performances of the season to get the result.

It's like dropping in to some kind of parallel universe. I remember going to Wembley, Grand Finals, World Club Championships and now we are talking about Batley being a tough game. It's like a warped real life version of Back to the Future II

Dewsbury ran in over 40 against them at the weekend, they're part time and they've had 3 days to recover. If we can't win this game then we might as well close the odsal gates for good. We don't need to smash them by 50 just get the job done.

Sounds logical Nothus. Maybe we'll scrape in by 4.

If it was a regular weekend fixture i'd be dreading this as Oldham have been competitive all year. But with it being a mid week fixture and Rohan actually using a bit of rotation, I think we'll win.

Batley on the other hand I am anything but confident. But maybe thats the big game we need to get up for. It was only 2 weeks ago we put in a brilliant performance against Leigh.

We should thrash Oldham and the fact it's an "extra" game in midweek is neither here nor there. Or maybe it's not "here", but is "there" as it gives us the added advantage of playing against part-timers who are also playing their second game in a few days, and who've been at work all day.

That's before you consider our squad of highly paid SL wannabees, whereas Oldham have no such ambitions.

But, having scuppered our own season to date, all we actually need to do now is win games. We don't need to rack up big scores regardless of if we even can, we can't make up the PD that would be needed. We just win by any means necessary.

I think we'll win well, and hope we do, but I think Lesson 1 that Rohan is teaching them is about first doing whatever you need to do to get the win. It doesn't need to be pretty. Not no more.

They need to win the collision and win the floor, their speed should do the rest, especially since we now have a half to get the ball out.

This really should be a formality against semi-pro opposition, but experience has taught us that we seem to be out-enthused all too often by these sides - and Oldham are [idefinitely[/i one of 'these' sides.. They, like us, have also played a couple of days before but - I'm guessing here..- probably won't have the sort of cover we can come up with to bring in fresh players, so that should be advantage us.

Another game I'll miss, so here's to hearing Mick and Hobbo waxing lyrically about how our expansive plays are ripping Oldham to shreds and about how they have no answer to it!! All fingers and toes appropriately positioned.....
