| A definite improvement, if he comes, but not the ideal foil for Gaskell, I would have thought.

| Jarrod Sammut is the kind of player who makes watching rugby league a joy. He's unpredictable and plays very much off the cuff, and yes, he has his off days but his presence was, and would be, overwhelmingly a positive for me. Both him and Lee can break the line and are excellent at backing up, no real reason why they wouldn't complement each other very well, imo.

| I would be thrilled to see Jaz in a bulls shirt, but I can't help but think this wouldn't be great news for Gaskell.
They are both excellent half backs and can tear a team apart at any point, they play very similar games but it's because of that I don't think they will compliment each other well at all.
It's no secret that Jimmy wants his scrum half to be an organiser, and what we would be left with is 2 halves fighting for the lime light, wanting to break the line every play leaving us with little or no organisation or structure in attack. I think the role that Siejka is supposed to play was coming to the fore before his injury, and you could say we've looked a little lost organisation wise in recent weeks in his absense.
We have our flashy half back, lets get an organiser!

True but at the same time, we need another threat on the field besides Gaskell. I actually think we're missing Mullaney big time who posed a big attacking threat for us.
I think having Sammut back would be a real boost for us. Having Mullaney, Gaskell and Sammut would give any opposition defence problems. I think Gaskell would become more of a leader/organiser anyway. Most of our attacking plays come off him, so he has to do some sort of organising, and he is also our main kicker.

| Funnily enough, I had similar feelings when Henry Paul was brought in to accompany Robbie! I thought they were far too alike and unlikely to be a good 'foil' for each other but, to be fair, that worked out pretty well in the end. They were brothers, of course, which does bring a different dynamic, but both were [as so often with brothers] clearly very competitive with each other, so those similarities, hopefully, wouldn't be a problem this time either. Brothers in arms?

| This is a strange thread. There's no evidence whatsoever but everyone has picked up and run with it.

| As things stand, particularly with the cap, I can't see it being possible to be honest. Then again who expected the Crossley signing? We do seem to be doing some strange things and as we were clearly in for a player, I'd have expected it to be a half rather than another forward. I mean, Crossley is a very welcome addition, but another prop wasn't on [imy[/i 'most needed' list.
It might be a load of cobblers, but it's been entertaining!

| Well there was clear ambiguity about whether someone is going out of the door to allow Crossley to come in. It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we do a bit of horse trading to let Sammut come in.
I find it utterly staggering that Wakey are feeling extremely sorry for themselves, short on numbers, and Sammut STILL isn't getting picked. Webster must, in effect, regard Sammut as without any use at all. In which case getting rid is logical.

| I remember reading a post from a Wakey fan about how bad Sammut was at doing silly kicks and giving the ball back to the opposition. Didn't our coach say this once when he was with us.
You either like him or not. Yes he can break the line but none of his team mate will ever know what he is about to do.
I am not sure about bringing him back. Too much of a loose cannon for me in terms of sticking to a game plan and I don't think he will complement Gaskel.
I certainly wouldn't talk about him as a high earner. How has he ever earned that reputation? Which top team has he ever played for or even asked to play for? As far as wages go I wouldn't put him any higher than an average player who has always plied his trade in the "struggling" lower teams.
I think there is a lot of sentiment about him because of this "aura" he seems to have built up about himself with his very occasional piece of brilliance, his looks and that brilliant try he scored against us.
I wouldn't lose sleep if we went for him but I would be surprised because of his unreliable style of play. We have a big pack now so we need a general. I suspect Seika is still our hope for the generals job - but I agree that we are struggling at the moment. Seika could be back in 6-7 weeks but can he get 100% right by the play-off's?
I can see why people like him but I am clearly not sure that his style will make us better. Will our 8 props follow him around the field waiting for him to do something or will he learn to run across the line like Deac's used to do and bring the forwards on to a well timed pass?
Maybe my problem with him is that at my age I remember the likes of Alan Redfearn and Woolford. Can't remember Seabourne. These to me used to lead the pack and get others to do things when they needed to. It is probably why I think of Sammut as a loose cannon.
Time will tell.
