| I watched a bit of the 92 Saints game, great stuff. Amused to see the ref (Whitfield?) pointing to the ground for a try almost before the ball was grounded & signalling for held up over the line without a second thought. In the age of VR a number of those would have been reviewed ad nauseum. I don’t remember hysterics of jokes & disgrace back then (apart from the usual collection of numpties (who all looked identical) who stood around the dug-outs at every ground screaming endlessly).

It was Robin Whitfield. He's got a book coming out apparently that sounds like it'll be a good read. All the refs back then seemed to give tries without bothering to check with the touch judges. Can't recall having much of a problem with it really either!

We're all on here now.

| There wasn't a problem; something happened, ref gave a decision, everyone accepted it and got on with life - well, more or less....

| Just watched the McGowan Hat trick v Saints. The player I was surprised at was Roy Powell. Time certainly dims the memory, but my recollection of Big Roy is as a workhorse, tackle machine type forward, In this game he is a running second row man as well. Oh to have him in our pack today. Makes his untimely death at a young age even harder to accept when you see the magnificent physical specimen he was in that clip.

Agree 100% big Roy looked awesome in that Saints game as did Karl.

They'll both be up at some point in the week, fantastic memories.

| Good effort Mick.
No idea if you could use it or link it but I did an edit a couple of years ago of the 1996 challenge cup semi final V Leeds at the McApline, if it could be of any interest here is the link;
if the mods dont like the link, sorry and please remove, and if it gets removed you can PM me for the original file or search for Duckman01274 on the popular tube sharing site.

Cheers for the heads up about the link mate, I've added it to the page for everyone to reminisce a truly grand occasion.
I've also added our Tuesday night trip to the then named JJB Stadium (our first ever visit) from June 2000. Unquestionably one of the games of a high octane season.

| Brilliant Mick, love it.
Can I especially point tigertot to the '99 Leeds "record attendance" game, a fine example of the incisive, sidestepping brilliance of the matchless Deacs.
Watching those highlights brought the occasion back as if it were only yesterday. Superb.

Yes I have to admit that if you give a monkey a typewriter eventually it will produce Shakespeare.
