What's the point of not registering Purtell? If we use his quota spot on someone else we won't be able to play him unless we deregister/release another overseas player mid season.

I understand that but if any of the players have/are intending on leaving via the Koppy route, us fans won't realise/find out until next week at the earliest. Who's to say, he hasn't already served notice, or will serve notice at some point today?

Good point. The only thing Wakefield has is <going too far there>, a couple of hundred thick and bitter RL fans and one braincell to share between the entire population.
