| It may be possible that potential investors were interested and in discussions with Caisley and his cohorts. The desire to inject funds into the club could have ended once the new board were able to make a full diagnosis of the financial plight.

| Quote: Bob Dylan's Hat "It may be possible that potential investors were interested and in discussions with Caisley and his cohorts. The desire to inject funds into the club could have ended once the new board were able to make a full diagnosis of the financial plight.'"
That seems at least plausible to me, and in that regard I'm not willing to brand Caisley 'a liar'
If I remember correctly, what he said was that he had people willing to invest in the club. Now we are told that he had roughly £800K of that investment - sadly not enough as it turned out. That doesn't make him a liar, although he may well have been negligent in not assessing the actual financial position before opening his mouth.
The most pertinent question is one that Adey asked (not are if it was on this thread) as to why Caisley, Coulby and Agar were not willing to work together with Hood and Bennett as a strengthened boardroom to solve the clubs problems. In that regard we can see that this mess is as much as personalities as its about money.

| This has proved to be one great big pi&&ing competition between egotistical individuals who have conducted themselves appallingly, have had zero respect and regard to a fan base (not to mention the ex-player contribution) who weren't big enough to work togather for the greater benefit of the club.
Appalling childish behaviour, from two, who despite my reservations, do have the club at heart

| Can I remind the assembled multitudes, where opposing warring factions are about as implacable as those within the Bulls, that there are now TEN DAYS during which both sides, having brought us to the very abyss, COULD, if they wanted to, meet and try to work together for a solution.
Will they? Not a cat in hell's.

| Just held my 8 year old while he sobbed his broken heart out. I have no promises to make him that all will be OK.
All he could say was promise me we'll go to every game while we can. And we will.
If I thought the 4 horsemen of the Odsal-calypse had any emotion I would have loved them to see the agony on his face. But that wouldn't fill their bank accounts or flatter their egos would it?
What I cannot reconcile is how a majority shareholder could sit back silently and allow the Club to be run by people he supposedly detests and mistrusts then feign surprise at the finances.
His inertia makes him just as, if not more culpable than those trying to steer the ship. At least they had the cajunas to put their hands up and have a go.
A captain goes down with his ship. Cowards stand by and watch it sink. Seems mr caisley fits both camps.

| Should be a nice windfall for Caisley, all those agents fees for unexpected transfers.

| Caisley said he had people to invest in the club, admin had to be expected before these appeared.
No-one would throw money at something like this for nothing, its not a charity. They would want control. In order to get control, they would have to buy out the existing shareholders - all the thousands of tiny ones reluctant to let go of their stake in their club..plus the people like Hood, who would never sell to a Caisley sympathiser (just as Caisley wouldn't in roll-reversal). We know this for a fact over the past couple of years.
To buy out shareholders would cost hundreds of thousands, if not a million or so. Now, it will cost nothing. So now they have a free club ready to take. If Caisley actually did have people - this is what they would have been waiting for.
We will only see if CC is a liar in a week and a bit...

Caisley's "investors" are probably just as imaginary as Hood's. Maybe they are even the same imaginary people, currently playing together at the bottom of a garden in Cottingley.

Judging from some of the comments posted on this message board, I doubt that either side is capable of keeping a secret.
If either Hood or Caisley ever had a significant investor lined up I think we'd have known all about it.

| I think I must be going mad reading all these posts. I have never met either Mr C or Mr H and I have no reason to like or trust either (and at the moment feel too heartbroken about the whole thing to care about anyone) but I do know that I was lied to by Mr H when he said that we were OK after the sale of Odsal, when he said that if I pledged my £100+ we'd be Ok etc etc. I was quite clearly, quite definitely and without doubt lied to by him. To date Mr C has never directly lied to me that I'm aware of (although his hints about potential investors comes close I have to admit). He may be as dishonest, evasive and incompetent as PH but I haven't listened to him directly misleading me over the last few months - and I have listened to PH doing exactly that. What strikes me forcibly, though, is that people who have actually met and had discourse with both men always seem to want to think the worst of CC and the best of PH - suggesting one is a much more amiable person than the other. Sadly amiability won't get us out of this mess and, frankly, I'd follow Satan right now if he could avoid liquidation and give me the opportunity to continue to support a club I've been attending since the 1940s (yes, the 1940s - I was taken to Odsal to see my first game in my pram in 1947!). Those posters who know both characters and are always ready to brand CC as a villain and PH as just misguided, can you honestly say that OBJECTIVELY, the latter is not just as bad as the former? And in the end, does it matter? All I care about is that my beloved club survives.
