Agreed. We need pace and he would give it. )

Busy day. Had an interview with Bulls' latest signing to get done and written up before heading to City's preseason friendly at Hull.'"
Did he actually mean that there is a new signing to be announced tomorrow?
I took it to mean that he'd interviewed our latest signing (ie Luke Gale).

agree with that. sammut will be best standoff at club without a doubt. But I think he needs a good organiser alongside him as he's much stronger as a support player and doesnt do much to provide direction to the rest of team. Cant see who we have at club who can fil that role. in sammut, jeffries, gale and briggs (assuming southernwood isnt ready and herbert is going) we have a set of 4 halves who are all standoffs. We dont have a genune organising scrum half in the team. Just my opinion.

Maybe that scum half is the player from the NRL we are supposedly signing.

wasnt that player described as a wing/ though? TBF most of stuff I've been able to find about Sammut from when he was playing in NRL classes him a scrum half. Witt and Hanbury always looked like the ones directing things on field when I've seen crusaders but maybe Sammut was asked to play a more attacking role and leave the organising to them. Sammuts kicking game and pace would certainly add a different dimension to team.

| As I get the feeling this signing was in the mix before weds it would fit that it is sammut. I do feel that he is the poorest fit of the 3 for our team and doesnt answer the organisation aspect which is weird. Not sure who is the most likely organiser we have and I seriously question whether gale would have been signed if we thought this was going to happen.

The other thing that bothers me assuming it is Sammut, is that in him and Gale we've signed two halves noted for weak defense. And whats been biggest criticism of bulls this year - poor defense. I know halves arent typically signed for their defensive qualities but to sign two who are particulary weak in that area when its already a teamwide issue doesnt make sense to me.

| Sammut's defence isn't that bad.
Tackles 286
Misses 39
Herbert :
293
34
Herbert slightly better, but not hugely.
Dureau
247
60
Compared to a half who is one of the best this year, both look good. I'm not suggesting either Herbie or Sammut are as good in attack, but would you be happy with the signing of Dureau given that his defence is even worse?

| problem with sammuts defense doesnt really show up in stats Ewwen. try watching him in games. quite often the opposing player just runs past him without him even attempting to make a tackle so it doesnt show up as a missed tackle on stats.
Sammut taken on his own is a good player. Its how he fits into the balance of the team that I'm struggling with. Maybe it will all make sense once we complete our signings.

| If our defence is poor then we will just have to score more than the opposition...

suspect that may be the tactice we've been trying all year but without any decent attacking options to make it work

| In all honesty, I would be pretty excited if it is Sammut. He is a player that can make things happen. He has that X-factor that we have been missing since Or left.
Think back to his first game for Cru against us at Murrayfield. He got of the plane and almost single handedly destroyed us that day. I remember at the time thinking how much I would like someone like that playing for us.
