Webster's re-signed with HKR. Blythe would make a promising squad player but it's quality we're short of not squad players.
I'd take Riley over Halley if Riley were a free agent at the end of the season.

i disagree about blythe. he is young and has all the attributes to be a very good centre. we are weak in positions and cannot attract superstars, yet when one of the brightest prospects in that position is potentially available, he is only a squad player? we have to look at ways around our inability to attract established top drawer players

It's not just their decision though, is it? Wire are a very strong team and maybe, and I actually have no idea, but just maybe, Blythe might want a better chance of regular first team action?
The Bulls were certainly in that predicament when we were higher up the league and I recall a few times promising young players being 'let go' because the were unable to make that big step to being established first team players. Giving extra money to keep them happy might work with some players but it won't work in every case, if the kid is really determined to make his mark. |
