How we can stand back and let opposition team score almost at will is beyond me. Our defence is an emabarrassment.

And when are we going to discover that passing the ball doen the line can be quite a useful ploy, we did it twice today and scored both times. No, lets stick to one pass and bosh. Bo**ocks.

And in all honestly, I can't see another win this season unless something drastic changes.

Have to say I'm worried. We're missing a lot of our senior pros but whatever our defensive system is, it doesn't appear to be working.

If Scott Naylor is still out of work we should seriously look at offering some sort of short term contract

He wont cost much, he must be desperate to get back to work and obtain a regular place and lets face it we cant do any worse and he must be able to teach us somehting in defence. Lets face it whatever we are doing isnt working

Well, we won. I think that's the positives done.

Defensively, it wasn't good or even close to good, in fact it wasn't [ieven close [/i to being close to good and that's against a (bottom end) championship side. Clearly we thought it didn't matter how many we conceded as we would score even more, fortunately that's how it worked out.

It would be nice to have a full squad, then we would be able to see just where we are, but I'm not sure I can survive much more of this in the meantime!

And this is reflected in the junior ranks too.

Maybe (hopefully) it is just taking a while to get used to the change?

Maybe we're taking the Brazilian approach to simply score more than the oppostion and not bother with defending?

Trouble is, we seem to have forgotten the scoring bit!

Looking at the Wire game we seemed really good at creating tries.

I have emailed the club with a new tactic. Whenever Herbert is about to kick on the last, nearly all the team drops [iback[/i 50 metres. That way, the chances of someone collecting the rebound are reasonable, and although I understand the chances they will cough it up on the first tackle are still high, sometimes we would start a next set of 6 only 20 metres or so behind the point of the kick.

Please keep this under your hats, though, as I want to make sure we surprise Wigan with the ploy, which I've not seen done before.

I watched the game back last night. We didn't seem as bad on tv. Watching it live we were woeful, but we seemed more average on tv. Why is that?

Had some of the things we tried come off, then we would have been applauding an ok performance. For example, Lynch's break could have been a try, Bateman came really close twice, Herbert (I think) did neat kick to wing that Paddy was close to, there was a kick through that Elliot was cm away from, Koppy's disallowed try, etc. It could have been 60 or 70 with those.

We are seem to be just a few centimetres away from a good attacking performance.

The defence though. Good god.

Attacking wise we did better but we were helped by a Fax defence that was even worse than ours. Can you see another SL side defending that badly?
