| agree to an extent about not throwing too many kids in at once. That said we desperately need some creativity so I think its a must that southernwood plays. he's clearly not injured as hes playing u20s so only other reason I could see for him not being selected is if theres some sort of off field issue going on. I'd either leave addy out altogether or give him a go in his proper position at loose. If nero is going at end of season then one of wardle/crookes should get a game, preferably wardle. Finigan picks himself probably taking one off reardon/halleys spots. Only other youngster Id like to see given a run out who hasnt featured yet is george burgess. It would be a fitting gesture for him to debut whilst his sponsors are in the coral stand and I thinks he'd probably offer a bit more than crossley, who I cant see us retaining tbh.

Exactly my point. I'm not suggesting we should be dropping senior players because the juniors will win our remaining games for us.
I'm just sick of the same 'Senior players' making the same mistakes each week and still getting a shirt. If the likes of Worrincy/Reardon are back on display on Sunday, I'd struggle to argue with anyone who thought they'd be better off doing something else with their Sunday afternoon. I'll be there as always, but I just hope Hilaire is brave and picks a side that all the fans can get behind on Sunday. Nobody will think any less of the young guys if they miss some tackles or make errors, it will happen because they're inexperienced. I'd not suggesting we put our u20's out, but I think we could introduce another 2 young players into the 19.

| The season has gone for me, it's now got to be about giving some youngsters some game time, give Olbison a run at the expense of Worrincy, and seen as though young Crossley has had a bash for a few games give young G Burgess a run for the last few games.
Not to sure about Crookes, can't see him ever making it.
Providing we have a full squad I would go something like this against Catalans.
Sykes
Sheriffe
Platt
Nero
Finnigan
Addy
Kearney
Koppy
Heath
Lynch
Whitehead
Menzies
Langley
Burgess
Godwin
Hall
Olbison

Is that a reason for picking a player?

| It's all well and good wanting more youngsters thrown in, but we don't know the contractual and subsequent financial repercussions of doing so.
Players could have clauses in contracts entitling them to bonus payments/wage increases if they play so many games, clauses which -allow whole contracts to be re-negotiated after a young player makes so many appearances aren't unheard of either.
Everyone can see there are players who are very lucky to be keeping hold of their places, but replacing them often isn't as simple as it seems.

So we keep playing the same players who can't perform and just hope something magical will happen? Most of the young kids have played quite a few games now so I would suppose they are already getting small bonuses. One thing's for sure they're not getting "win" bonuses. If George or Tom is nearly ready why not give them a run out instead of Worrincy or Crossley?

No, but under the same premise of "this season doesn't matter now, look to the future", then why would you spend money you didn't have to? If giving a young player a debut would cost the club money, why spend it when we don't have to?
It would be nice to know all the ins and outs, then maybe we'd have a better idea of who was "available" and who wasn't. Although personally I think I'd be tempted to go with 16 players rather than include one such back rower.

certainly not the primary one. Think given the performances hes putting in in u20's he's earnt a chance and would a bit of bulk to our pack. sponsors being in coral stand is just a lucky coincidence.

Exactly, especially when there isn't much in the way of spare cash (if any) floating around.
For all I know it might not even be applicable to any of the youngsters on the fringes, but such situations are far from unheard of.

One of Southernwood, Olbison or Crookes to complete 19 man squad.

| Am I cracking up or was Reardon fairly blameless on Saturday? Getting some hammer on here regardless. I love Beaver but if anyone else had blown that 2 on 1 there'd be murder on here.

Poor in defence again imo, and didn't really offer much in attack (although good work for his try).
I just think that in the first place, it should have been him dropped over Sheriffe.

Can I ask when you're referring to?
Because the only times I saw him caught out was when he was once again trying to cover 2 blokes on his own because the defensive line hadn't moved across properly.

He still did a bad job at the attempts, and he needs to be screaming at the players to slide along.
Maybe it's just me, but I do seem to remember him being caught out on several occasions, although with the way Dobson was getting the ball out to the wings I suppose it can be forgiven.
ATEOTD, I still think if we're playing Reardon it should be at full-back, he's not a winger.
I'd probably play him at full-back with Kearney at 7 vs Catalans.
