| Best thing the RFL could do is follow Bradfords lead and sack MacNamara from the England job before he screws that up too.
Francis Cummins anyone?

| Well I never, I said in another thread that I couldn't see this happening, but was totally wrong - apologies to anyone I dismissed in the process.
Bizarre, I thought they'd stand by him to the last, but perhaps this is the board's way of regaining favour with those who have been calling for action, whilst also having little too lose in the process.
All we need now is Hilaire getting the job permanently and I'll believe MBBBB is really in Gdansk.

For reference, Wigan is like the Roman Empire. Warrington is like the pillow fort I built in my bedroom when I was 9. Ok, 26...

| I'm disappointed it had to end like this, but not surprised. But (as I said on another thread) something is/was clearly wrong somewhere (I'm not going to speculate based on only anecdotal info) and it seemed clearly to be becoming time for a change. I also speculated that maybe trying to do two jobs just was not working - since we have won sod all since his England appointment.
You can see Macca's legency in the youth development set-up and personnel we now have, and indeed in the club still being here despite the massive cutbacks they have had to make. Good to see the statement "His legacy at the club is a youth development system that will pay dividends for the club for many years to come". Its a shame that some - many - of his detractors for manifest on-field underperformance have given him little credit for any of that.
But unfortunately the results have not been there on the field. He's paid the price for that; and I can't disagree. Sick of seeing a team losing matches that they should have been able to win!
We are in uncharted territory now, territory the club has never been in in the SL era. But I will admit to a sense of relief - something had to change. I think most of us have written the season off anyway, so if Lee can salvage anything from it then that will be a big positive. Good luck to him.
I suspect few on here will be unhappy today. Some will no doubt be ecstatic. I feel relieved. I just hope that mood continues when we finally hear who the replacement is, and when we hear how the new guy will seek to work within (and hopefully alleviate some of) the constraints his predecessor had to contend with.

| Can I just point out that there was only one person (myself) who told you that the next man in charge would be Lee St. Hilaire
I put it that way as he is not the next full-time coach nor does he want to be

| Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see Franny or Wille in our coaching set-up next year - although hopefully not as the main man.

Looking through the numerous texts on my phone about this news, I'd say it'll put a few 100 on the gate on Sunday, my dad being one who after the St Helens game this year said he wouldn't be back until McNamara had gone.
Yes I do agree it's sad in a way how he's been sacked so close to the end of his contract, but as I've said the performance against Harlequins was in my eyes and many others the worst Bradford Bulls performance since the name change in 1996.
He was like ex PM Brown clinging on to power that he had lost.

| A real shame it had to happen this way, but it did have to happen. I didn't think so at the time, but with hindsight there should probably have been a parting of the ways after the England appointment.
I hope it's quickly backed up with the other requirements for all to accept that a new era has begun.

| I woke up this morning and checked the T & A before I went to play badminton looking for some good news on the coaching front only to be frustrated and dissapointed again. Little did I know within an hour and half a friend of mine had posted on facey to me that Macca had been sacked, so I checked the news and she was spot on and I must say it's come as a great relief. Maybe Lee wont get us to the playoffs, but hopefully he can get us away from the turgid and half hearted RL we have played under Steves stewardship if only for 6 weeks.
Macca did not deserve to leave with an unblemished record and it's fitting that he's been sacked with 6 weeks to go, although it has come two years to late.
Steve McNamara..You are the weakest link...Goodbye.
