I remember both games very well, same season 2000, the 52-1 I remember we'd started pretty poorly, they put over the 1 and it seemed to annoy our lads... good day out.
the 96-16 I remember cheering on one of the Salford tries as it was a break from half way late in the game and the popular side all cheered as their guy beat our full back to make it an 80 point game But it is better for the game I suppose that we dont see too many drubbings like that any more...... it was very funny at the time though.

Yep. I think it was on Sky and Leeds had lost earlier in the day meaning that before the match started we were top and Leeds were bottom of the league. Sky put the table on the big screen and it got as big a cheer as anything in the match!

| Remember seeing a Salford fan in tears during the 96-16 match, was a grown man, thought it was quite funny at the time (was 16)

| Well I think we really need to back up the Cas game when we play Salford. Salford away have been a bit of a bogey team for us in recent seasons (but who hasn't?) but we need to build on what we did against Cas

| Just bought my tickets for Friday night. Don't forget, if you get your tickets from the club not only do the club get 10% of the ticket price but if you give them your teamcard number you also get points. And we all know what points make...

Must have just missed you then as I was up there a short while ago too getting mine (popped in on way back from Manchester).
The 10% thing has always appealed to me, but the added bonus of the points on your card really do mean it's advantageous to get your away tickets from Odsal now. For the club and for yourself.
Bizarrely, I was actually only about 3 mile away from The Willows earlier, so could have probably popped there to get them if I'd needed to!

I was stood under the screen that day and you are quite right about the cheer when we all saw that Leeds had lost at home and were now bottom of the pile .
For me the best game I ever saw at the Willows (when we did win) was the 1997 clash played in the red hot heat.
I still have the match day VHS of the game and no word of a lie, there was at least 5000 Bradford fans in that 9000 crowd. The whole North stand was a sea of Red, Amber & Black.
Then came that 11-10 game and the awful Kirkpatrick allowing Salford to stray offside all bloody game.
That said we lost the game with what must be up there with the most inept performances of all time, anyone remember that penalty we had and Robbie Paul threw a forward pass to Medley from the tap (we were that poor that day).
Anyhow on to Fridays game and I just hope that we win at the Willows for the first time in five years, 2006 we went down by a drop goal 17-16, 2007 we lost 14-10 in the rain in front of just 3000, We were 8-0 down at half time but had two quick fire Tupou tries after half time to take us into a 10-8, but then came the Alker magic and we lost .
2008 Salford were in the Championship and last year we went down 18-10 with yet another poor performance meaning Steve McNamara has yet to win there still.
Bradford by eight on Friday.
See you all there.

Looking forward to it!

| Also, does this ticket get you into the seated area above the terracing?

Especially as we lost the following week, starting the gradual evaporation of that season.

| Salford are like the Bulls in trying to get their season started and Kipper McRae will have them up for this one, As Sykes pointed out in his T & A piece the defence needs tightening up against crosses, my concern is we are already trying to go via Orford on the 5th tackle and the opposition are already targetting him, the Bulls need to have more options on who takes the ball, we should also look to others to be playmakers as well, I think that was why Wire lost to the Pies because Briers went off and they looked a bit clueless, while the team is still building an understanding lets make sure they don't build an over reliance on one player. Macca has already said he wants players to be flexible in the positions they are asked to play but there should be a concensus about who leads the attack at certain times, that way it will keep the opposition guessing and less chance of our playmaker getting flattend on the last kick!

| I thought L'Strange looked like he took on more responsibility on Friday and provided he had runners and options he created plenty of space. Orford is definitely the kingpin but there are at least 2 other possible kickers in the side that can be worked in as options on the 5th if necessary, it's not rocket science.

It didn't a few years ago, they were like Odsal where you had to pay an extra couple of quid to "transfer" into the seating area. That may have changed though as I haven't sat down for a few years there, I usually stand (mainly because there's plenty of room on the steps at the Willows)

Well it is if you can get to the ticket office to pick them up! Probably not much incentive if you're paying postage to have them sent out unless they're cheaper than gameday prices like at the Giants.
