| Lynch has captained in the past so would this not be the more likely option?

But Macca has stated he sees Langers as future Bulls captain, plus he's usually on for the whole 80, whereas Lynch isn't.

True, there might be a vacancy on the grounds staff.

| If Orford comes over, I'd be tempted to give it to him. He's a proven leader and plays in a pivotal role

I'd be reluctant to give it to a completely new player, especially when we have a leader like Langley in our squad.

| A few names thrown out as possible captains but witbout reasons as to why they could bring something to the team/club.
Begs the question as to what the role of the captian is and what is expected from them. in an era when the coach sets the gameplan.
Is he expected to lead by example in professional application?
Does he need to have tactiical experience to make on-field decisions?
Does his positional role have any bearing?
Is he merely an off field PR figurehead? and good for advertising and sponsors?
What attributes would he need to enthuse the players on and off the field?
Should he be be a disciplinary enforcer?
What values does he need on the training field?
Would his personal dedication to professional excellence be valued and if so can he enthuse this to the rest of the squad?
In an age where game plans, team selection and substitutions are controlled by the coaches, does he still have any role on the field? other than tossing a coin pre-match?
Does the appointment of a captain depend not on the best man for the job for that season but rather on his long term future with the club?
Is he appointed merely as a gratuitous soporific?

Lynch quite frequently plays for over 70 mins and Langers doesn't usually play the whole game. Either could Captain for me though.

| A captain needs to be a pivotal figure in the team IMO, an in your face type who questions every decision of the ref, as annoying as that is to the opposition. I don't see that in Lynch as I haven't in Deacon, or Peacock.

Someone who questions every decision is just annoying. Someone who, politely, questions the occasional decision is much more likely to get a more sympathetic hearing from a referee.

I see what you mean; Hanley, Farrell, Sculthorpe never got anything from that tactic.

Dunno about the others but I can remember Hanley being sent off for it. That did his team no end of good.

I'd take that for the 299 games he got away with murder.

Like when Briers was skipper of Warrington? With the exception of him getting sent to the bin against us (in the cup I think), the sheer amount he chirped at the ref while captain was incredible. To be honest, he still does it a lot now he isn't captain, just not QUITE as much.
