25852_1297892995.jpg You've stolen my washing
From out my back garden
You've tarmacked my driveway
Even though I said no
You've nicked my lead flashing
And weighed it in at the scrappy
Oh St Helen's tatters
Come rob me again:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_25852.jpg |

| I voted for him to remain as an assistant coach. In this modern world of freedom of choice, i therefore choose not to tell anyone why.

Ok FA mea culpa (this proves Im not ME he would never say that)
I am still interested in why people think we should keep Macca but only if they want to tell me

| I definitely don't want McNamara to leave, but I wouldn't jump into giving him a new contract just yet.
I do however, after going to the fans forum earlier this year, have great belief in the way the club is being run, from the bottom to the top, and honestly believe if Macca was to get a proper assistant coach, then we would certainly have potential to make this club great again.
I've said it a million times, Macca's a top class coach, and you always learn from your mistakes. I'd hope we start next season in the same vain we finished this one, playing the same enterprising brand of rugby. He's extremely well respected as a coach within the RL community, and rightly so.

On the whole, I'd agree with that.

| Well I will comment on my vote to ensure I'm not labelled anything I should not be.
I went for the let him see out his contract, if there is a big shortage of its quality Coaches in the game, among other things of course. If anything Macca could do with an assistant with attitude and quality backroom staff, that combined with some signings and the players staying should see us in good stead for next year.
The Superleague aint what is was, you cannot be complacent even for one game as we have learned and just because we have never missed a play off before does not mean we can't because we just have. Let Macca kick things into gear with the new signings and see what 2010 brings is my mantra on this one.
I'm braced for the 'feedback' on this go for it.

| Two people have said having a proper assistant would improve things - interesting! I wonder if club were actually thinking of getting rid of ours before the Dave Craven article
Macca was a good assistant to Noble. Not sure how you can find out if an assistant is any good as a fan though. I don't even know who the assistants at other clubs are!
I not sure about Jimmy coming back, not set the world on fire and seems to have been undermining coaches at other clubs to position himself - Harrison & Cullen in the past!

| As a neutral I'm staggered by the amount who think he is doing ok. He's not, he's performed terrible, his record gets worse every year. Missing the play-offs with that squad is not accpetable.
Do I think he will make a good coach? Yes, eventually. John Kear is God, but not too long ago he seemed like an apprentice vicar.
Should he have been sacked? Not for me to say without knowing the small print, but he seemed to try everything to convince Hood to give him his P45. I don't, & never have, bought the 'they can't afford to get rid' argument. I've never heard it from any other club in any sport. The only reason, IMO, is that Hood recognises unrealised genius in him.

And you don't have, and never have had, any detailed knowledge of the financial situation of the club or financial or other consequences of such an action (both direct and indirect). Neither have any of us. So therefore it can only ever be opinion, from anyone on here. As you have recognised by stating "IMO".

And I have never had similar information from any sports club who have ever got rid of their underperforming manager.

Which is hardly surprising, given that this is hardly the kind of information ever likely to be in the public domain. Is it?

I'd agree with that. Several people on here have ridiculed Powell's reign as Leeds coach in the past but he never missed out on the play-offs, and the team did improve under him (admittedly it took someone else to make Leeds realise their [ifull [/ipotential).
I don't see how it is fair to blame the assistant coaches but not criticise the head coach. It would be like blaming Francis Cummins for Leeds missing out on the WCC and the CC.
Like I said on another thread, all the 'underperforming' teams this season have young British coaches. It seems that some kind of NRL experience makes Antipodean-coached SL sides better at certain technicalities - defence and the ruck area, both areas where Bradford have struggled this season IMO.
