1589.jpg when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.:1589.jpg |

| Quote: Bullseye "I'm glad to hear he's said he's going to shut up about refs next season. I was getting sick of hearing about it. It's the sort of thing you hear from coaches who are losing their grip. It does him no credit at all.
As for his proposal to get rid of video refs there is absolutely no chance of this happening.'"
Have you seen any of the after match interfviews?
They go something like this usually.
Hack: So what did you think of the ref's decision to send Terry to the sin-bin/penalise Solomona/disallow Tadulala's try?
Steve: I didn't think it was right, we'll have to have another look at it on the video.
The headlines the next day are
REF WAS WRONG - MACCA
What is he supposed to do in interviews? Just say "no comment" to everything?

Hack
I think there's been more to it than that but I take your point. However I do think a "no comment" where refs are concerned would help him and peoples perception of him.
Better to keep this sort of thing in house IMO or if you must go off at a referee do it once a blue moon like Daniel Anderson.

Although I suppose it is easier to take the decisions when you haven't lost a game since April!

That's the point though. Winners are grinners.
Discussing the ref only takes attention away from the real reasons for losing the game. McNamara knows this too!

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

| I don't agree with getting rid of the video ref. I do, however, feel that it's used as a cop out by on field refs. Many times we've all see a try scored almost at the ref's feet yet he hands it on to the VR. Which in turn ignores the whole benifit of the doubt to the attacking side. If you think they've scored from what you've observed then they've scored. A cross field kick where theres a chance the scoring player may have gone into touch or failed to ground the ball then that's prime for a VR decision.
Refs should be encouraged to back their own calls

| Jesus, could Steve McNamara possible stop whinging about bleedin officials, officials decisions, video refs etc etc.
Its all he friggin does.
You can be guarenteed that if a decision went against us and there was no video refin attendence he would be the first one to cry the sob story.
He's really starting to annoy me latley.

Because he's a whinger, and fails to address his own teams problems despite constantly crying to the media about poor refs decisions.
If he got his players to play well, then there would be no need to have to whinge because chances are the decision wether a win or lose wouldnt fall to a ref decision.

Any metal left on that axe?
When you think about it, that's pretty much as ludicrous a claim as even you have ever blurted out.
What do you think he does all season, then? Go down the pub?
Cue standard lamebrain 'aren't I funny and original' doofus "He might as well" responses

Well he certainly has a punishing schedule running all these alter egos. What is the world record number for 'em btw?

When that happened in MM last year the Bulls fans were up in arms. (So would any other teams fans have been).
Quote: Roofaldo "The thing what I will say, which is credit to McNamara's arguement is that nowadays, the video referees seem to looking to disallow the try, rather than find a reason to give it. This adds a total negative aspect to the game, and what good does this do the game if we're going to have this at EVERY match?
However, it is pleasing to hear Macca say he'll stop moaning about refs, as that is getting tiresome!'"
IMO the VR should be looking for a reason do disallow a try. If he cannot categorically see a reason to disallow it he has to give benefit of the doubt.
