| Give over, he isn't playing well at the moment but neither are quite a few players. Herbert showed nothing in his time with us, Gale has shown glimpses but seems to struggle to string some consistent performances together.

| What I don't get is when where in trouble gale rumours always come out of the woodworm. Hull saying they were interested in him, what are they seeing!!!!
Move over everyone, we have a England Knights scrum half!
TBH Herbert was worse, where just all abit vexed. Remember that game where almost every kick was charged down... Think is was against Warrington.

| Gale may be hiding his light under a bushel until the fixtures where in theory at least we have some chance. He doesn't want to give his best moves away.

Herbert was with us for 12 months. Gale has been with us for 2 and a half years...

| Herbert wasn't offered a new improved contract after a less than impressive season like Gale was.

| The point is that Herbert was last gasp option when we got messed about by Orford - essentially he was all that was available for that season, and was shipped off - rightly - at the end of that season.
Gale is the guy that was chosen for the role, handed the vice captaincy and a better contract. We constantly hear about how good he is, how the team will be built around him etc.
You can't compare those two circumstances really
For that reason, I'm more disappointed with what Gale does - or doesn't do - than I ever was with Herbert.

| Briggs was head and shoulders better than both. As is Sammut.... as was Addy.
Gale being here over 2 years and given 2 new contracts look dreadful decisions.
On the original question Herbert was slightly worse but it's close.

I totally agree if Briggs had been given the game time and patience we have shown Gale I think he would be a great player now . We would have probably have lost him in the financial crisisinstead of him going back to featherstone . Even the full back we got from Halifax that had one season with us was a million times better at passing and making breaks. (I can't remember his name tho sorry )

| I think you rare remembering Briggs through rose-tinted glasses. If he was good enough he would have been snapped up by now. Look at how Powell has made an excellent scrum half out of the average Sneyd.

| Gale is dire. Any positive 'glimpses' I've seen from him (and I'm really testing my memory here) have been against very weak opposition. A captaining halfback that can't pass, has a poor tactical kicking game, rarely if ever, takes on the line makes him a liability in an already weak team. Worse still, we are completely stuck with him.

| Gale is poor at the moment, his passing is wild a lot of the time with the recipient reaching over his head to get the ball it like he panics when he's has somebody running at him so throws a panic pass all the time

Briggs was way out his depth, some fans seemed to develop a belief that he was a rough diamond that could of been a SL star if given a chance. I'm not impressed with what Gale is producing but I don't really see why he is the scapegoat in all of this. I suspect fans see a lack of creativity I often pin the blame solely on the halfback without considering the whole picture.
Our forwards aren't getting us on the front foot and teams know if they kick deep and get us playing out of our own 20 we are easily contained. Our wingers are too lightweight to gain metres early in the tackle count and when we do get close to the opposition line if often ends up being a desperate play.
Gale took the line on a bit last night and with some success, unfortunately our support play is also non existent. Anyone who makes a half break is usually on their own.
