Adversity is a funny old thing within team dynamics. "Everyone's against us" / "people think we'll lose because of . . ." can stuff a team up . . . . OR make them stronger as a unit, IMHO. It'll be interesting to see how recent alleged events up in the north east effect the Giants. I sincerely hope it doesn't do so adversely.

Agree with BP - should be a good game. Big ask for us: first game out, completely new personnel 6, 7 & 9, away against a side that finished so far above us last year and is certainly no weaker this year (off-field allegations aside), so I'd suggest if we pull it off it will be a fair achievement. If we don't, as long as its close and competitive throughout - and we don't see any of last season's unacceptable capitulations, I'll not be too upset.

Thats one good reason Orford should be Captain, it needs a strong character to gee up the team when they are flagging, the Bulls did it far to often last season and lack of leadership was a key reason. Lynchy and Langly have not impressed in that sense when captaining an underperforming team last season, they do not bring that sense of being able to drag the team forward when the going gets tough as it invariably will. Orford ticks the boxes for me also he's been there done, that and got the T shirt " last season's unacceptable capitulations, I'll not be too upset.'"

Bloke who used to captain the team I played in, when you were out on your feet, knee deep in mud, getting hammered and struggling to breath always used to come out with "C'mon lads, dig deep. One more for Meg Mortimer!"

Given that Huddersfield are no mugs these days I wouldn't be heart-broken if we were to lose. But I definately want to see an encouraging opening performance to put the 2009 gloom to bed.

I fancy the Bulls for this one. McNamara will be itching to start the season well, whilst Huddersfield may not be mentally prepared for the new-look Bulls given the alleged pre-season disruption.

Can't see the Bulls being complacent after last season either.

Should be really tough bu ti think Bulls by 6 points and the new boys hopefully play well.
