We could do a lot worse than Aaron Gorrell at Hooker if Newton doesn't resign. Goalkicker too IIRC from his time at Catalan?'"
Rather keep Newton tbh.

Maybe not. Hope so though, when he's on form Newton can be a brillian player, have always rated him, wouldn't like to see him leave.

| Let Newton go but only if we can find a quality replacement IMO.
Anyone know if Diskin is out of favour now the Rhions have Buderus and that young kid coming through

I wouldn't have Diskin over Newton.

True but Newton is getting on and we would make Diskin a better player like Lowes

True, but Diskin is very hot and cold, never rated him too highly. We don't want another McKenna.

The point I was making is that I think we need to stop assuming that all of our OOC players will want to resign with us rather than move on to other opportunities. If Newton wanted to go back to Wigan say, and they wanted him back it wont matter what we want, it wouldn't be our choice.

If he plays to his potential this year then fine, attempt to resign him, If he wants to stay, and If we can afford him with the other rebuilding we might need to do. On balance thats what I'd do at the moment. But there are quite a few ifs in there.

Based on performances so far, I'd want him to re-sign. He's seemed to be one of the only ones with the heart there, and my hat goes off to him, playing 80 mins for last 4/5 games as a Hooker is pretty good. Id give him a 2 year contract.

| I think Leeds would allow Matt Diskin to leave at the end of the season, swap him for Terry Newton and sign David Williams from Manly.

I doubt Newton would go back to Leeds. Diskin isn't as good as Newton, it would be another backwards step.

| Sorry i did not mean Newton to Leeds, i meant we get Diskin and release Newton. Warrington would probably snap Newton up.

When he's on form (like recently), I wouldn't say past it. As a Leeds fans you're not one to talk on past it Hookers, as one has stung your pockets recently imo.

| Why the obsession with a "big name"?
Our better Aussie signings have been the lesser names, the Withers, Peacocks and Gartner's of this world.
They would be a fraction of the cost too.
