| Could one of mods split posts about new investment off to a new thread?. Doesn't make sense to have it in rumours thread.

English players who aren't English still count on the Quota.
For example, Chase takes up one of Castlefords Quota spots

The non-fed quota is nothing to do with VISAs. Rangi counts on the non-fed quota because he wasn't trained as a junior in this country. His VISA worries were completely separate and relate to him being a naughty boy when he was on t'other side of the world.

Not 100% clued up on it myself, but there is definitely some difference (legal or otherwise) between being able to represent a nation in a sporting event, and having a visa to work in said country.

| Was just wondering as he is a UK resident, i know it differs from citizen that maybe where im getting abit mixed up.
Anyway back to the topic in hand, who realistically are we able to entice, no doubt the others clubs are looking around for players, but maybe we are a more possible option maybe some players may want to come here and try and help the club back into the top table.

I'd suspect the residency [for the length of the visa] would be automatic on being granted a visa, he could hardly do the work his visa allowed him to do if he couldn't live here, after all. I'm pretty sure the visa is tied in with the job though, so any change in employer would require a new visa and if conditions have changed this may, or may not, be granted.

Interesting re Heighington - Born and raised in Australia (Born in Sydney), but has a British passport.

Even with the above, I think he's Australian.

That's exactly what issue with chase was. He got a fresh conviction in oz AFTER his current visa was granted. He has to reapply for a visa at end of 2014 season if he stays at cas or straight away if he changes clubs and there was doubts this would be granted. Presumably club signing him are confident that a new visa will now be issued.

British passport must be through parent/grandparent then, if we assume Wiki is correct, as it most likely is [though I'd never put my wage on it..]. I certainly thought he'd gone over as a child, but apparently not, maybe he went over as a 'bump'.

Don't think you can apply for a passport due to the country of conception, imagine how many English kids would have a second passport for Greece or Spain!

I've got rellies over in Aus who have were born in Adelaide but with a single British parent/grandparent are entitled to a British passport and residency- not 100% sure that they might have to claim it by the age of 18 and neither am I sure the government haven't made rumblings about changing it, but I think that's still the situation.
