Perhaps 5k is our core hard core support base, and in a way this seasons average with the reduced level of away fans in the Championship could actually imply an increase in home support this year?

We lost fans in SL as we became increasingly uncompetitive, and not appealing to the floating fan as way to spend £20k of their hard earned cash. Perhaps commercially the apparent "just do enough to get to the big game" attitude has failed to bring back more fans. Sure qualifying for the million pound game is a box ticked, but as a commercial company improving attendances throughout the system must also be important too. We are after all in the entertainment business.

When my club didn't exist it was still bigger than yours:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_8.jpg

5k is where we were in the post-admin phase of last year when Catalans came. Most of the others, outside the first two pre-admin home games of the season (about 8k each), were around 6k. The only real outlier is the 10k for the home game.

We hit the hardcore support last year, and bar a few poor weather poor crowds have retained them this year. By my measure that's a success. A sign of what's possible when there's some of yer KPMG approved jeopardy in a game is the 9k for the Leigh game.

If I were a betting man I would say we'd lose about 500 off that 5k figure if we don't go up.

Quote: M@islebugs "Because it isn't a fact. The rate of decline bears no correlation to which league we're in as we were losing roughly 2/3k per season in the SL.'"

That is, of course, entirely untrue. There is clear correlation between the league we are in and the attendances that we have, but it is not necessarily material given other observable trends. I suggest somebody performs some principal component analysis to find the real truth of the matter. Going by the linear trend from 2012-2014 (because I'm too lazy to find the 2015 home average gate), my main concern is how we are going to survive on gates of -405 in 2017. eusa_eh.gif

We need to look at this problem in a new way - allow fans to attend for free, but charge them for not attending icon_biggrin.gif

With the definition of fan being anyone who attended a Bulls match in the SL era, serves those Glory Hunters right!

Quote: M@islebugs "... those stats support the view that 'very little has lifted or excited the fan base' '"

It may not have been the perfect season, and there have been hair-tearing weeks and games, but taken overall, it has been a fantastic, positive, feelgood, successful season and everyone bar you seems to agree that comparing last year and this is like chalk and cheese. Last year - doom, gloom, and disaster on disaster; this year, all sorts of pluses but a winning team, a successful season so far, thrashing Salford, beating Leigh in the crunch match away, and making the million pound game has been great. We have felt good about going to the games again. Except you. And that is your inalienable right.

Quote: M@islebugs "...However, I have to say your conjuring of 'evidence' and 'facts' is absurd '"

A fact is a fact. It doesn't have the capability to be "absurd" or anything else. It just "is". You just don't seem to like the facts, probably because they make a nonsense of your claim. But facts they remain. If non-one liked them, they wouldn't care.

Post on behalf of friend who has no account but wanted to add his 2p worth:

Jean Phillipe Baille was one of the better Bulls players against 'Fax.

He played well and has also borrowed Fairbank's 'tache.

I don't think we will completely lose many fans. But quite a few will be more selective about which games they attend, less fussed about the non competitive fixtures.

Referring to yourself as 'we' and 'everyone' suggests a condition. When you (or everyone if prefer) present nonsense as 'facts' and 'evidence' then the pretence, or delusion in your case, becomes absurd.

We (you and I that is, not the plural of FA) don't agree. As in hold different views. Try and relax more.

You're fooling no-one. You arent presenting any contraryargument, you've descended to name-calling. Pretty poor, really.

icon_lol.gif Mate, you're the one who's got the spittle-dribbling red mist thromby, not me. I can discuss and debate 24/7 without even feeling a blood pressure twinge!

Everybody (there, I can do it too) knows you can and will post indefinitely until the other person tires of you or the thread gets locked. But it isn't discussion.

Out of a (probably well meaning) sense of loyalty to the club you cannot tolerate that which you (often mistakenly) believe is critical and therefore, undermining of its best efforts. We've been here before haven't we? Those who've been on here a while appreciate your loyal and pugnacious and sometimes very funny BUT every now and again you cross a line and it edges towards silencing debate.

Everyone, and by that I really mean me, has a right to say this season has been disappointing overall.
