Will that spot go to Toulouse though? A fair few SL club owners (Derek, Ken and certainly others) don't want another French team. Do they have a say if the IMG scoring puts Toulouse top of the pile? After them York and London were in front of us. Can't see London maintaining their score now they're in the championship and having to work far harder for IMG points. So it's between us and York. York better than us on the field and have a better ground (but whether the IMG scoring actually puts it that far ahead I don't know). Also we have higher attendances that York (just about).
At the end of the day we're a contender but I still think Toulouse and York are ahead.
If we did get promoted then we'd need to recruit massively - can we afford to do that? As mentioned above we'd be feeding off the scraps as the better players would be signed up before we got a seat at the table.
Listening to people in the know there isn't any appetite for a 2nd French Super Club with the cost of travel and all that.

Would be interesting to see how they could justify leapfrogging them if IMG criteria put them 1st. It'd devalue the whole IMG process. Not that it has much value.

| I had this discussion last week with somebody and for some reason, I would still not rule out London getting a promotion spot despite their disastrous season so far.
I like Mike Eccles and I like London as a club. However, now Hetherington is at the helm with new Australian investment, the RFL will be trying all they can to get them up as they want a successful team in the capital. I cannot and will not trust IMG, so I'm sure there is going to be some huge twist yet.
It might be a long shot, but stranger things have happened but the uproar that would come with that decision would be absolutely massive.
Call it far fetched, but I just have an inkling.

| Well it's not really IMG to blame. They just came up with the criteria. It's the incumbent clubs in SL that have the most to gain from the current system as it's weighted heavily in their favour.
SL clubs will get whoever they want to take Salford's place. That will be regardless of on or off field performance.

| Well, the decision is next week but we know super league clubs are self serving their interests (and I get it, as there is not much money in Rugby League as it is)
But will Super League clubs really want to fork out on travel to Toulouse and London and not get any of their fans in the return fixtures show up or do they go down the York and Bradford route, make a 14 team comp knowing full well they will take a fair few fans to the other grounds for increased revenue but this means less central funding for the teams as you divvy it up with 2 extra teams.
The next decision is probably going to be one of the biggest for the game that's happened in a very very long time.
I have enjoyed moments in the championship but I cannot wait until we are top tier again (whenever that may be).

| In the unlikely event we did go up we'd need to recruit about 15 new players.

Oh yeah, absolutely. A lot of players in the championship wouldn't want to go full time, so the squad would need a complete overhaul.

| What odds on McNamara coming in as assistant to reprise the GF winning combination with Noble?

| Assume deadline is the end of this month for new recruits?
Sounded like Noble was still hopeful of some new bodies in the last interview.
