Scrutes is playing poorly at the minute. But we have seen he can put in some quality performances and at his best is punishing in defence. He's had a lot to deal with (Diabetes, several injuries) so I think he deserves a bit more time to find his feet again.
But if it is that simple then we'd owe him alot seen as he'll be on a decent packet and he's signed up to 2014

| Quote: M@islebugs "Firstly, we have to give Potter a fair shout. Bad luck with injuries, new signings not fit and struggling to gel, coupled alongside a tough opening run of games says to me that we shouldn't be making decisions on the coaching staff until early May. By the we'll have played everyone once and with a little bit of luck with injuries we'l be able to see how we stand.
Secondly, a former Bulls legend with an intimate knowledge of Salford told a good friend of mine that the problem at both clubs was ultimately the same. The top man was too nice and didn't know enough about rugby league. Any squad/staff overhaul has to start at the top in my view.'"
Up until recently I've had plenty of time for Potter but he does seem to come out with contradictory stuff and more so lately. It may be that he's not so great with the media but then Peter Hood's come out with contradictory stuff too and he's got less excuse. By "top man" I assume you mean the chairman? I guess that takes us back into the debate of who wants the job?

| I’m not sure how much about RL the top man needs to know. How much does money bags Moran at Wire know? They need to know how to run a business.

| Aye, I'd bet there isn't a coach in SL or NRL who would welcome a "very knowledgeable" chairman getting heavily involved in rugby matters. Dogs and barking spring to mind.

| It helps if they know a bit about RL but don't interfere. John Monie says in his biog that Lindsay had a good eye for a player and despite his reputation left him to get on with the job. He was less complementary about his successor.
In his biog Mal Reilly doesn't speak fondly of a CEO at the Knights that hadn't much clue about RL.
I guess it helps to be quite knowledgeable at least. Otherwise you could be persuaded that Rikki Sheriffe and Mike Worrincy would make good signings.

| Indeed Bullseye.
By top man I think he meant Chair but I'd include CEO in terms of where the buck has to rest. Whilst there are very probably examples of chairpersons and CEO's running companies without a good knowledge of their product it's difficult to see how it's a positive factor.
I'm not sure posts are comparable at each club but Hetherington is pretty much accepted as the key decison maker on on all matters at Leeds. They haven't done too bad of late. Mcmanus is known to have the final word at Saints no matter who is the coach. I just think we can go round the houses for years discussing player clearouts but is the level of management oversight what is required over the longer term. Even discounting the individual issues which we've gone through time and again as not the fault of BOD/management, are we reaching a point when certain people at the club are associated by fans, advertisers, sponsors, potential investors as, to use a horrible American corporate term 'toxic'.
I personally think that with a run of luck with injuries, we'll improve and go OK, but if we don't and many are convinced we won't, would you want Peter Hood launching Pledge III having finished out of the 8 for the xxxxth time?

| TBH, I don't think that Peter Hood is any less knowledgeable about RL that a large percentage of the people who post on these forums.
He certainly has more of an idea than the monkeys that post on the T&A.
As for a 3rd pledge? I doubt even offering tickets at a lower than last year would get the 10k signed up if we fail to make the 8 again.

Attacking wise Kearneys one of our best players. Yes is defending is atrocious, but so si the rest of the teams. If a full back misses a tackle then everyone notices as he is the last man. But plenty of forwards missed tackles on Sunday, it was just it doesn't get noticed a smuch as they are usually a load of other players around them.
Not defending Kearney as defensively he was woeful on Sunday, but we need to get have many other issues that need sorting before getting rid of our best attacking option.

He's not even anywhere near our best attacking option. He's supposed to be fast aswell, he couldnt even get over to cover Richards break on Sunday despite already been in front of him. Worst Full Back ever.
Id rather have Nathan Graham.

Why would we want him?
We have Timmy Smith & Isaac John in the halves & Mathers will be signed on for 2013 if he impresses this year, which he has done so far.
I'd have Olly back in heartbeat. He still attends a number of matches each year & still has a good relationship with the fans.
SHOULD we get the nod for our new ground on the 30th of May we'll have "A grade" facilities to match out "A grade" community department & "outstanding" youth production system (cough*46-24*cough). We might not be a bad proposition...

| I think Kearney is okay going forward. Cant tackle for toffee, but the one thing that really frustrates me is his positioning for kicks.
I have never seen a full back get turned round as much as Kearney does on a match day. Every time the opposition kick, we find we are trying to get out of our 10 meter line as he has to run 20 meters back to pick the ball up. He could easily make 20-30 meters if his positioning was better.
At first I didn't understand the comments coming from Bulls4Champs, but as each game goes by, I'm starting to see what he's talking about.

Yes. We all know that winning all the time at youth level will make all those kids superstars.
Might want to keep hold of them though. Instead of letting us and Hudds pinch some of your best ones.
Our club might be in a terrible position atm, but it's still funny when you get Wakey fans coming on here thinking they're a top club.

You'd rather have Platt or Sykes at FB?
