The academy maybe poo now. But in general the lads are of no worse quality of those at other super league clubs, The one very noticeable difference is that the lads never seem to be the same type of player they were once the sign us as they were at amateur level.

| Was going to post this. The onlt thing i can think of is that half the original U18's are suspended for a fight against Cas. Which needs severely addressing by the club. So i guess we had a lot of u16's players in the squad.
Still embarrssing though and it has to be addressed.

| Really sad state of affairs. The Bulls do a load of good work at Wetherby Bulldogs with the younger kids yet totally ignored the successful under 16's team as they progressed over the last few years. I know that three of the lads from that side, all Bulls fans at some stage, were signed up by Hull FC and Rhinos, and all came back to haunt the Bulls 18's academy this season!

| Can the Bulls sign up 16 year olds from Wetherby? I thought they were limited to their service area?

You can sign up from where ever you want. Look at the recent intake not many from the Braadford service area.

| I think they have to take a certain number from the service area but they can take some from outside too.

| There was a comment I read rlhere (join while your reading)rl about Mick Potter changing the tactics through all age groups to match the first team.
Quote: Mick has standardised tactics right through the age groups. That means it's easier to move between teams and step up. "Moving on specifically to Mick Potter's direct contribution, he informs me that "Mick has standardised tactics right through the age groups. That means it's easier to move between teams and step up."'"
If, as seems likely, the first team are struggling to successfully adapt these tactics maybe the same applies throughout.
Of course it begs the questions why we weren't playing standard tactics at all age groups before but probably a question for another coach.

You don't have to take any from your service area if you don't want too.

| Yes sorry, main point was that there is a real disconnect. Why do the Bulls bother going into Wetherby (LS post code) to promote RL when they ignore the potential academy talent there? Wetherby isn't known for RL, but anyone interested in that age group couldnt fail to recognise the group of lads from that team that won the Yorkshire cup, Leeds & District cup, and runners up in L&D Cup twice. Both coaches were season ticket holders at Odsal, all three signed up players Bulls fans too. Two of lads from North Yorks, so Leeds & Hull FC took on out of towners as Bulls could have done. Real shame, came back tom haunt us when 2 of lads scored against Bulls 18's this season.

Quote: R.B.A "I was at the game and the Bulls were the worst Academy side i have seen this season by a distance. I had assumed that perhaps you had played a lot of young lads with your actual under 18s playing in your under 20s side but you were physically bigger than Rovers so not sure that was the case.
It surprised me to be honest because with kids like Whitehead, Donaldson, Burgess, Addy, Olbison etc you have obviously invested in your youth.
The ref blew up early in both halfs aswell with the game only lasting 70 minutes so it could have been worse.

Just be because they scored tries against us doesn't mean we should have signed them.
