Agree entirely with this. FA kindly did me a Halley avatar when I suggested he wouldn't reach the mark a fw years ago. Ironically I think he could have been carried in a top 4 team who gave him enough chances to mask his shortcomings. Goulding at Wigan, Hardman at Saints (now Fev), even Foster at Saints (good potential granted) offer no more than Halley (Foster's kicking excepted).

| I somewhat doubt that Mr Potter will be on the Halley's Christmas Card list this year.

| Thanks for your effort Dave, always gave 100%. Disappointed he didn't get a chance under Potter, but I think we do have better options at the club. Hope he goes well, always liked him and hope to see him back in SL one day. Good luck.

| I can see why he's gone. He may have put in the effort on the field but he's simply not good enough.

| I wish him well, its the right call. But you have to marvel just how low down in Potter's estimations he was to not get a look-in during our injury crisis. Essentially we'd rather patch up the backs in any possible way than let Halley have a go.

| Shame to see Halley go
Especially as he was never even given a chance to prove himself
Keithley.....jeez what a steP down...doubt it will be long till he is back in SL as t&a article reads that it's a short term agreement at the cougars.

He had enough chances before this and was never good enough.

| How was he going on the U20's? I know questions are being asked as to why he hasn't had a chance under Potter but it could simply be that he wasn't ready after his injury and lack of pre-season. Last thing we would have wanted was for him to come in when he wasn't ready and to end up getting injured again. I think he has a future in the game and this move will let him get his fitness back in a competetive environment before looking for a club next season.

I'm sure all that is true, but it seems that the coaching team must have felt that he was never going to reach the required standard.
Otherwise they could have shipped him off on a loan or dual-reg deal for him to play some games and regain his fitness. Releasing him from his contract says that they didn't rate him.
