| More than happy to keep a team that ran Leeds close scoreless.

| Couldn't make it to the game, was it really as bad as the [url=http://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=rleague/10/02/26/RUGBYL_Salford_Nightlead.htmlSporting Life[/url report suggests?
A win's a win in anyone's books, and it's good that we've picked up the spoils in a game where the result appears to have had to be ground out.

Worrying there is the note that Sheriffe had a hamstring injury. Given his improved performances this season that's a real shame if he's going to be out.

Well if so we'll get to see this youngster Crookes that Macca rates very highly.

| We showed last week what we can do on a firm pitch, and the fact that the academy match was called off speaks volumes - it was obviously a mudbath.
Still, keeping your opposition scoreless is always a great confidence builder whatever the conditions, and it sounds from that report as though Sykes had a great game.

| Rod Studd just painted a pretty positive picture on Sl Extra Time. Said that Bradford were pretty much in control coping with the chances that Salford got pretty well but it was a really tough match (given how lightweight up front we've looked up to now that's an improvement), played on a heavy pitch and a really spirited performance from Salford. To nil the opposition and control the game (althought this is based completely on Rodd Studd's comments) is a good performance in my book and this is the type of game we'd have lost last year. He is a good match summariser so I tend to trust his comments but I guess we'll have to wait for the people that went to comment to really get a good picture
According to Angela Powers Wigan had an error free first half and completely bossed Catalans. Though it sounds like Catalans pretty much rolled over and died with Walters just shrugging his shoulders in the post match press conference. Obviously Wigan played very well with Richards scoring 38 points by himself but in Rugby league it's often easier to win 58 nil when you get a roll on and the other team give up than it is to beat a team 7 nil on a bog when the opposition are scrapping for their lives. In terms of next weeks match it sounds like ours was better preperation (as daft as that may sound) but it's obviously going to be the biggest test of our credentials so far. Wigan certainly look like the business.

| It can't have been any worse to watch than that crap on SKY tonight.
Was it a game where both teams tackled well or just a game full of knock ons?

| To be honest, the scoreline doesn't really paint the picture. Both teams defended very well today, but our team defence was superb. Salford barely made it to our line in the first half, but got there quite a bit in the second and we kept them out. At one point, Ratchford looked like he was through and going to score, but we scrambled well and stopped them.
Looking at the score, you wouldn't think we played well. I would say we did though. Yeah it might have been Salford, but they weren't all that bad. We created loads of chances, but we just couldn't get that final touch to score from them. Partly due to bad ball bounce, partly due to the (really) wet conditions and partly just bad luck.
Sheriffe went off at half time I think. I hadn't noticed until Halley started legging it down the right wing during the second half. Halley moved to the wing, Sykes to fullback and Menzies to centre. Wasn't carried off or anything though, so hopefully not too bad. Would be really rotten luck for Rikki to get injured just as he starts to find some good form.
Salford's best player is quite clearly Holdsworth though. He was at the root of every good play they did.

With Worrincy not in and Menzies moving to centre how did the two young lads get on?
Looks like the defence stiffened up as a result so makes you wonder if he'll get back in.

| Just got in from the game, first of all must say it was a good turn out from the bulls, made some noise and we even had a trumpet! Have to say the scoreline doesn't reflect the game, we completely bossed the first half from the very first kick of the ball and should have had the game in the bag at half time. Scruton, Langley and Hall were the 3 top performers for me tonight, made alot of hard yards, put themselves about in defence and a few bone shuddering hits from Scruton and i think 1 from Menzies. Sykes has improved his defence by a country mile, stopping Ratchford just short of the line which would have levelled the scores late on. Kick and chase was outstanding tonight and Orfords kicking game was sublime. Turned them around every single time. Made it hard for themselves but a well deserved 2 points moving us up the table.

well summed up there. was a tough game that was fought down the middle, some great defence as well from both sides. the pitch looked really good to say how much rain it had on it before and during the game. one thing i would say is that macca wanted us to win close games and we managed that today. thats a good positive to take from todays game.
